'10 IL WR Kyle Prater

The recruiting process is starting to wear the family down. This trip to Tenn is the last one they are taking till the fall. I'd expect them to make a decision before school starts this fall.
They are looking for a school that is going to run a pro style offense and one that is going to give him the exposure that will help him move on to the next level.
I've explained to the Dad that Tenn is impressive and that they have the facilities, staff, Coaching and fans to back it up. As far as your chances..... I'd say that if they saw what I saw and evaluate the opportunity with the intent of what's good for Kyle then chances are good. I'd stay positive on this one. I'd also say Milton commitment is good. They both graduate this December and will both be in school in January.

This was a post on VQ by Zach Fulton's dad when he was asked when he thinks Prater will make a decision and what UTs chances were. This has gotten my hopes up a little bit...

So Prater is also enrolling early? Next year's Orange and White game will be awesome if we can get Prater.

Nice... Actually that is reassuring. Wouldn't it be cool if he was so impressed he pulled the trigger this weekend?

Illinois doesn't run a pro style offense...so that should eliminate them.

I was thinking the same thing. And USC and OU have a couple of WRs (White and Woods) who seem like locks to them at this point so hopefully that will factor into it as well...

Don't bank on that. No way. I still love our chances with any offensive recruit once they see everything UT has to offer with this staff.

We have WR's in this class too. What's your point about those other schools having other WR's?

HAHA, I was think that as I typed it. Darius White and Robert Woods are almost the same player as Prater. We have Ambles, but he's not the same player as Prater. And I think Prater is confident he could beat Milton out. He may not be as confident that he could beat out White and Woods...

I'm just wishful thinking man, leave me alone...:shades:

Prater and Woods aren't the same type of players.

Not quite. Ambles doesn't have the elite speed or athleticism as some of the others .He's just an amazing route runner.

He's got good athleticism. His speed is good. Better routes than any of the others. Only thing is attitude. What does Prater do better than him again? Be 6'5 I guess.

Milton is going to be a stud. Prater will not easily beat him out. IMO

No chance of that affecting USC or OU taking Prater. Kid has the best chance in this entire class of making an immediate impact. He fits the same mold as Julio Jones and AJ Green. He's a ready guy. USC or OU would take him over anyone else.

One thing that's on our side is distance. I don't think he goes to Illinois. Not high profile enough for him. The Zookster can recruit though. That's for sure.

OU is 12 hours from Hillside.

USC is clear across the country but they have a history of picking off these stud WRs where ever they are. Also a history of kids getting homesick that far away from home. That should be pointed out to Prater.

Alabama is 11 hours away. Knoxville is just less than 9.

If we can somehow pull him in, it will shut up everyone about our offensive recruiting if Milton's commitment hasn't already. We are doing fine with the prospects we want. It's got me believing.

A little off topic but im wondering what happened to ambles? how did he go from arguably the top prospect in america to not being anywhere near as good as prater and the 7th best

I don't remember if it was just attitude or if it was attitude and laziness. I know I've heard things about his attitude. Can't say for certain that he is supposedly lazy also. It may be that he is lazy because it's hard to drop someone based on attitude. At least out of high school anyways. Not like we're talking TO or Ocho Cinco.

he had sex with his coaches wife and cursed at someone at the florida camp.

One thing that I keep thinking about is that we are sitting in the driver's seat for Demarco Cobbs as well. Is there a chance we land him and Milton? That would be one of the best receiving classes in history if so.

Yeah... I remember this also but as far as I know, there is no credible source. Coaches would know more than we do so maybe they have been scared away.... Either way, I am not going to assume. If we are assuming it happened.... I am going to say it could be worse and at his age, a lot of us would have done it. She would be more responsible for it in my mind. He is younger and she is the one with the husband. He has no obligations to anyone. I am not defending the situation. Just saying. I do think it's wrong if it happened.
