'10 IL WR Kyle Prater

this is what he said before his list -

I take back what i said about the coaches being very high on Dunkley (though i still believe that might be the case), but still if i would trust a writer who personally knows a lot of these guys (nyc who had Dunkley at the top of his list) and have seen what they have done rather than a amateur on this board.

I'm sorry your feelings got hurt about Prater, but I am allowed to have an opinion. And if Prater and Dunkley both want to be Vols, and if the staff could only take of them, Prater would be the Vol. Book it...

My feelings didn't get hurt and i stand by my statement that Prater wasn't that interested in UT up until his recent offer and if you look at my first post, i actually had Prater over Dunkley...

HAHAHA!!!!! Your trying to turn my words around. I believe NYC. He knows his stuff. But UT had not offered Prater at the time NYC put the top 5's up...

The argument was never about if Prater was interested. I said that it has always been rumored that the Vols will make a strong push for Prater and you disagreed. The day after you disagreed, the Vols offered Prater, and Farrell said that UT will be in it till the end HAHAHA...

Sorry if i pointed you out but before i was just trying to get the point across that it didn't look as though we were going to have a shot at this guy. Obviously, a few days later Farrell says we offer him and have a good shot at him and now i look like an idiot, but w.e. idc anymore i give up this is the last time i'm going to argue about him. Hopefully he becomes a vol.

Prater is right at the top now. Now the question is, if Matt Milton commits, do we still go after Prater.

How many of these big WR types do you all think UT will look at signing? It seems we've offered a few (Prater, Milton, Lucas, Alli, etc.)

I think we get two to three. Couple of big guys and maybe a small speedy dude like a Dunkley type

Word from my brother on the Illinois site is that Oklahoma leads for Prater right now after impressive visit last month, with Illinois and USC rounding out his top 3.

Yea, that sounds about right. They say that Blake Bell was in his ear the whole time on his visit to Norman. Luckily, we have 8 or 9 months to change his mind. ND is also a player for him and Cooper...

I think the Vols will take 4 WRs in this class. 2 of them will be the bigger ones like Prater and Milton...

I'd say we have no chance with Prater until we pull in a big name QB. Then we may be able to get into the race. That goes for about every big name WR prospect on our board.

Prater is one of those guys I don't really think we've got a good shot at though. Milton is probably a little more realistic for our big WR target it seems like.

Prater's list will be shortened to roughly one third of its current length (30) when he makes his cuts. At this time, three of those slots are already filled. "I'm going to trim things down to about ten total for my first cut. I'm almost for sure that Illinois, Oklahoma, and USC will be on that list. I'm not sure of the others yet. After that, I want to cut it down to five sometime before my senior year starts."

Per Rivals... The first thing we need to do is make his final 10 teams when he cuts his list in the first week of June...

A question to Mike Farrell on the Rivals MB:

Mike, didn't you say something back in March about the
Illinois coaching staff being more afraid of Tennessee/Orgeron than any
other school in terms of landing Prater and Cooper?

Farrell's Answer:

Orgeron is certainly a threat to anyone in Illinois, especially the Illini. The man can recruit.

• Hillside (Ill.) Proviso West wide receiver Kyle Prater continues to blow up nationally, receiving offers from Alabama and Tennessee this past week. Prater will wait until the middle of June to narrow his list of schools, but the Crimson Tide and Vols are expected to make the cut along with Illinois, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and USC.

oooooooo we make the cut! We need a playmaker WR. I love Green and Nuke, but we need the big body speedster. The next Meachem/ M Williams type.

I dont see the real big difference between him and Milton. I obviously would give Prater the advantage, but i would be happy with both.

“I’m very impressed with Coach Kiffin and what he brings to the table offensively,” Prater told InsideTennessee.com “I like his confidence. I like the way he isn’t scared of the veteran coaches of the SEC."

“I was excited to pick up the offer from Tennessee last week, USC, Alabama and Missouri also offered, those are three good programs,” Prater said. “I hope to be able to take a visit there sometime this summer. Tennessee is definitely a program I have a lot of interest in."

This is big time my friends. He is rated as the #1 WR in the country on Scout. He is now listed as 6-5 205 and runs a 4.48 in the forty...

Kiffin needs this guy for his offense. We have the small speedy guys, and to land this guy would be huge. He will have a AJ Green/Julio Jones type of impact.
