'10 IL QB Tommy Rees

hmm.. after reading that I'm not very confident we're going to get him. The staff still has time though. One thing we all should remember is to never doubt this coaching staffs recruiting abilities. Thanks for sharing the article, Sab.

He will end up at ND, because of the pull of playing at the most prestigous school in the country. He is a mid-western kid and ND is ND. That said if they were to pull in the wrong coach I think he does not go there, and wrong coach I mean a Johnson or a Meyer.

I highly, HIGHLY doubt any recruit that doesnt have ND boosters for parents thinks this. It simply isnt true anymore.

If Weis gets canned, Rees will de-commit. It would be VERY unwise for him to enroll early at a school that basically has a lameduck coach. If he does that, and ND ends up bringing in someone like, say, Paul Johnson.....he has just wasted a year of his college career cause he would have to transfer before ever even playing a down. He is saying the "right" things in that interview.....nothing more or less.

Exactly Buckeye. The only thing he is doing is being politically correct now. Lets see how he reacts when CW is fired. Kiffin and he Krew see that Rees is goin to be looking and they are going for the kill.

I agree with this. Does anyone think Ryan Mallett would've gone to UM knowing Carr was out after a year and RR was in? Nope.

SIAP. Recent article on Rees from Scout.

Quote:
“In my mind, nothing has changed,” Rees responded when asked about the possibility of a coaching change at Notre Dame. “Just because of a couple loses, I’m not going to de-commit. I committed to Notre Dame for a reason and I’m holding to it right now.

“If something did happen, I’d still be committed to Notre Dame.”

“I talked to coach Ianello and coach Weis about it,” Rees explained. “I’m doing everything to prepare to come in early, so that I’d have all the requirements taken care of for school. I still haven’t decided, but I’m just trying to get all those things done, because it is a possibility. I haven’t set a date (to decided), but it would obviously have to be made before the deadline. I’d have to decide before January 10"

Translation: I'm doing everything I can to get ready to be punched in the eye.

I don't want to come off as saying I like ND, because I don't. But I don't think you should short change the golden domers. From my understanding Rees plays for an exspensive private school in Ill., and his dad is/was a coach. After a football player at ND graduates he will not have a problem getting a good job, because of their following across the country.
Now what if B. Kelly was to be the next coach at say 5yr/13mil. would Rees still go to ND?

Only 3? I'd say they are all waiting to see if Weis is canned. If a system coach comes in, watch for mass exodus.

If he would go to ND with Weis coaching, then he would definitely do it with Kelly there.

GREAT information, thanks for sharing it with us.....hope you had a good thanksgiving.......GBO!!!!

No, Meyer will not take the ND job. If he does, it will cement him as the biggest idiot in the world.

I kind of disagree simply because of the types of fans each school has.ND, for the most part, has classy, knowledgeable fans unlike UF where these guys are more worried about CLK and the Vols than they are about winning a national title or Tebow possible winning another Hypesman. They are only fans because it's the in thing to do right now. These same "fans" were rooting for the 'Noles and 'Canes back in the day and will jump ship just as soon as the Gators return to their rightful place of bottom feeders.I don't need to look very far to find one of these people as my brother's step-son who is 18 likes the Gators, Red Sox and Saints and when I ask him why he says "Because they win", typical Flarduh fan response.

Per sources, rees was impressed in Lexington and has been in contact with the staff for several weeks. Watch out for a big surprise VERY soon.

Was he visiting Ky (officially or unofficially) or did he just come down to watch the game?
