Scout.com: Marques Dixon Profile

"A lot of schools have been on me," Dixon said. "Tennesse coach Orgeron has been recruiting me hard. Alabama has been on me. I talked to Miami and Florida, I talked to them. Jimbo Fisher, I talked to him at Florida State. Those are the main ones."

Dixon noted that he talks to Coach Ed Orgeron at Tennessee "about once a week" and that is a big reason why he is so high on the Volunteers.

"I like Tennessee the best," he said. "I went down there and I love their facilities. Their facilities are about two years old so I like Tennessee. I know Alabama and Tennessee want me at cornerback and I talked to old man Kiffin and he said he'd use me at cornerback and maybe use me like Eric Berry and move me around to different spots."

Per Rivals- November 16th...

"Miami is scheduled for an in-home visit [today] and they'll have my written offer and everything," he said. "Tennessee is going to play Virginia Tech in the Georgia Dome so they'll be up in two or three weeks. I talk to Coach Orgeron and Lance Thompson almost every day. I saw them in school [yesterday] and they say they want me to come up to Tennessee."

Dixon already has an official visit set up to Miami for the last weekend before signing day and has already been to Tennessee unofficially to take in the Knoxville campus.

Per Rivals- December 16th...
"I've been talking to Tennessee and plan on taking a visit there in January."

Per Scout- December 17th

Dixon is a 3star CB in Decatur (where the Vols will be practicing this week for the bowl game) and is teammates with Stripling, Malcome, Mincy, and Golightly...

He didn't play football his junior season so many people didn't know anything about him. But he tore it up this season especially in the return game...

A new article on Rivals today says he just received an off from Tennessee and Miami in the past 10 days. With him getting the offer and the way Orgeron is all over him, it seems like we really want this kid and his stock is just now rising...

He has already been to UT earlier this season on an official visit, and he says he's going to come back to Knoxville on an official in January. It looks like he will be taking in a Vols' practice in Decatur this week as well...

PERFORMANCE: One of the most impressive performances on either team, Dixon had an exciting kickoff return for a touchdown, an interception and took several snaps at quarterback for Southwest Dekalb in a 13-9 loss to Martin Luther King.
STRENGTHS: Dixon has a great cornerback body with a good frame and muscular body structure in the upper and lower body. He showed elite athleticism on his kick return, getting to top speed quickly, and big-play ability with the ball in his hands. He also showed good coverage ability and instincts at cornerback, pulling in an interception and showing a physical presence in the run game.
WEAKNESSES: Cornerback is likely Dixon's position on the next level with added value in the return game, so he needs to continue to get more comfortable in his backpedal and in coverage. - BARTON SIMMONS

Per Rivals...

Thanks, V! I prefer reading your threads way more than most of the two bit so-called reporters for UT sports I have seen. Very little effort from them lately it seems. I guess they slack off too around the holidays.

We have a very good chance of landing Dixion and Stripling. No one wants to be GA defensive cordinator and TJ is very concerned about that. Both players will be checking us out during our stay in ATL!

He might. His new film has just been sent out in the past couple of weeks so the recruiting services haven't had a chance to re-evaluate him yet. He said Miami offered him and had an in-home visit with him immediately after seeing his new film...

Doesn't he have two teammates that are headed to UM? He's a very underrated player star wise but he made the All AJC team. He has good skill set and size but he's kind of raw, kid has talent and he plays in the highest level of comp in Ga.

I think he is teammates with Stripling, who is headed to Georgia.
