You don't redshirt someone till the end of the season. If he doesn't play, he can redshirt....but sounds like he has been on the field for some play...so no redshirt.

I'm fairly sure he can still redshirt. Redshirting is based on a percentage of plays..not just getting on the field once.

Does a red shirt keep you in school another 3 years or if you red shirt can you leave after playing 2 years...in school 3 total...does that make any sense?...:)

Yes you can leave after playing 2. Sam Bradford could have come out last year as a redshirt soph. and he still has the same decision this year.

NCAA rules are quite clear on the use of redshirt status: any participation in any competition counts as a season of eligibility. For example, even a single play in a football game counts as participation for an entire season

On uga's athletic web site, Marlon Brown is listed as a participant in the s.carolina game.

Thank you. I was (obviously) unclear on that.

For everyone else, he has participated in a handful (probably about 10) snaps this season. Guess redshirting is out the window.

TBrown, I think you just got mixed up with a Medical RS. That is based on number of quarters played to be eligible.

it just has to be 3 years after HS. RS (1 year) sophmore (2 years)

Ya i believe Haynesworth was RS SO when he declared. Doesn't surprise me, considering he spurned the titans for the skins for a few extra million. He wasn't a world beater during his time at UT. Just wanted the $$$$

That is correct. They have changed the rule because it was once the percentage of the games you played in.

That's correct. A medical redshirt is the situation where how much you play factors in.

He made a few plays in the 2001 Vandy game and he played big in the UF game in 2001 and against Michigan. That was about 75 percent of his big plays. Terrible practice player. Ed Kendrick started over him.
