IF Bama and UF will stop recruiting for a year or so, we may catch up.:)
UT's doing a great job lately. It won't take long to catch up. As long as UT has a decent 2009 season, UT will be right back to getting its fair share of highly talented recruits. UT's 2010 class is ranked 10th by Scout and 12th by Rivals right now. As long as UT is landing top 10 classes and filling the positions of need, UT will soon have plenty of talent and be able to compete with anyone.

Recruiting has a way of evening out somewhat over the long haul. Once teams like UF, UA, UGA, and LSU have two or three good recruiting classes in a row their stacked depth charts end up making it a bit easier for other big time programs like UT and Auburn -- who right now offer a better shot at earlier playing time -- to land more talent.

For example, with Ingram, Richardson and Lacy on the depth chart, there's almost no way Bama could land a big name highly ranked running back in the 2010 class.

I like Bray better too. He has the size and the accuracy. Needs to gain weight and will do just dandy in Kiffin's system. Bray blew out Scroggins in the Elite 11

There's always room for another big recruit even with Bama's depth. USC has 6 deep in their backfield. Each and everyone could contribute on the majority of teams in the NCAA.

2009: 10th - Freshman
2008: 35th - Sophomores
2007: 3rd - Juniors
2006: 23rd - Seniors

That's essentially what Tennessee is playing with right now.

2005: 4th - Whatever redshirt players are left.

Our 3 JUCOs haven't been factored into the ratings yet, neither has Meline. Tomorrow, you should see the Vols well inside the Rivals top 10 when they factor in:

Bruce Irvin- 4star, 5.9
John Brown- 4star, 5.8
Ted Meline- 4star, 5.8
Pat Harris, 3star, 5.7

Agreed fox. Not all rival fans are trolling douche bags. Surge doesnt come on here spewing funk. Seems like a likable dude? Dudette?

Thanks. Dude; the avatar is strictly for enjoyment! :)

Hey, it's your board. You love your Vols just as much as I love my Tide. UA vs UT is a great old rivalry -- one that's at its best when both teams are good.

I'm old enough to remember when good sportsmanship and respect were the norm rather than the exception.

Haha I was just about to comment on that Vader.. I expect us to be at #6 right in front of Georgia..

The sky is the limit!

Surge has never been anything but friendly and equal when he's on here... Great to have fans around like that.

We have had a lot of attrition as well. Talent is just one part of the equation. We have coaches that can coach em up. Sullin boys are doing just fine thank you very much. Just goes to show what competition can bring out of people.

Who would you rather have on your team. Lennon Creer, D Mo? Or the Sullin twins?

If and when Tuberville takes another coaching job, does Gran stay here or does he go back with Tuberville? LSU fans seem to think Tuberville may end up their coach if he stinks it up this season.

Les Miles is not getting fired anytime soon. They're still only 2 years removed from the NC. I'd watch out for Miami, although Shannon helped himself bigtime with the win over FSU.

Crompton, McNeil, and the Sullins Boys in 2005.

Ricco McCoy
Montario Hardesty
Gerald Williams
Wes Brown
Andre Mathis
Vladamir Ricard
Marsaulas Johnson
Dan Williams

They are all from the 2005 class

Dang. Didn't realize there were so many.

The 2 key years there are the '07 and the '05 class. There are alot of players from the '07 class who were highly rated and have either did nothing yet (Martin, Donald) or are no longer on the team (Langley, Paige Coleman, Creer, O'Neal, Sawtelle, Melancon,). But we did get Berry, Vinson, Evans, Walker, Rogan, Jones, and Cooper from the '07 class. They have been solid. Martin and Donald still have a shot to turn it around...

The 2005 class is the heart and soul of this team imo: Crompton, McCoy, Scott, Hardesty, McNeil, Sullins (walk-on), Marsalous, Mathis, Gerald Williams, Dan Williams, Wes Brown, and Richard all came from that class...

Probably the Sullins because we are hurting at o-line. I did like Creer as a running back though.

fulmer was a great recruiter but he began to become inconsistent.....one year top 5..next year 23....next year top 10...next year out of top 25 and so on

you have to stay around the top 10 to play with the big boys in the sec

just wondering but what was phillip fulmers final recruiting class ranked?

35th. The one Kiffin finished off fell out of the top 25 and ended up 10th. I don't know what it was when he was let go though.

I would definitely take the Sullin boys. They have heart, determination, work ethic, desire. They patiently waited their turn and made the most of their opportunities. They don't have the raw talent, but they are still with the team and playing more than D Mo, Creer, Paige, etc.

When you bring in a ton of recruits for one class, it's hard to stay up high in the next class. Fulmers class consisted of getting a lot of 4 star players. After USC and Florida haul in a huge class. They don't get many players but a lot of them are like 5*'s so they also get top classes. Will be nice when Tennessee is doing that.

I give Ole High hat 2 more years and then he's gone. He's a bone head coach, riding the success of Saban's recruits (and dumb luck). He's an awful coach.

bama has brought in top 5 classes 3 years in a row now...lsu too...

it can be done..lol
