'10 FL OT Chaz Green

Rivals finally updated his Interest page. They had UF as the only school with High Interest as recently as last week.

Every time that Green is mentioned on Rivals radio, on the message boards, or in the Weekly Whispers report, Tennessee is mentioned as the current leader by Rivals officials.

We are shown as low to no interest for multiple prospects that we are leading for.

As much money and resources rivals has you would think the interest section on top recruits would be updated every once in a while...

we have some momentum after landing James

when is Chaz supposed to annouce his decision ?
before christmas ?

I believe he's an EE..so as soon as his season ends he should be making a decision. If not before then..

Nope...He is not an EE. Could be a NSD decision, but for sure it will be after he visits USC and UF which will both probably be in December.

Chaz has already been to UF numerous times, he lives in FL, and the Gators were his favorite for a long time. If they haven't sold him yet, I don't see how they could on 1 more visit...

Hope you're right. That UF/FSU visit makes me nervous.

Cool...

He is still visiting and that is what I said...

The staff could end up with a good problem to deal with here in a couple of years. They'll have 3 beast OTs (Douglas, James, Green) and 2 spots to play them at. Not to mention MacLain also being in the fold in 2011.

OT U anybody?

Call me crazy but JJames could be a redshirt candidate if there are no significant injuries next season. He might not be ready upper-and-lower-body-strength-wise. Rivals hints at this as well. If he's forced to play as a true freshmen it may not be a good sign. Cullen and Douglas will probably be starting tackles next season (assuming we get Cullen). Green, if he comes, has the versatility to play Guard, and is a prime immediate impact candidate. Cullen graduates in 2011 and JJames will be a redshirt soph more than ready to start. Lineman aren't made to start immediately in college anyway. The real crunch will be at safety over the next few years.

By the way, I'm not meaning to come across as argumentative. Just pointing out JJames could be a redshirt or an ease-into type player relative to Chaz and Cullen. Not sure there'd be a PT crunch there. OT U would be awesome btw!

James and Pair are the more likely guards in my opinion, with Green at tackle. of course UT has to sign all three first.

I think Pair would need to put some serious weight on to play guard. But I could see him and James playing there.

True, but I haven't heard anyone suggest that Pair can contribute immediately, so he'll have 1-2 yrs to bulk up and find his position.

TJ, JJames seems destined for Tackle. Chaz is thought to be able to play any position on the line so w/ our lack of quality Guards next season I would think he could end up there, at least for the time being. If we get Cullen and he's SEC-ready, we may have our two tackles in him and, of course, Douglas.

Earlier I stated that Jjames could be a prime redshirt candidate. While he is considered lacking in his run-blocking skills (he plays for a spread offense so not surprising), he is an EE so I am probably selling him short. I def think he has an NFL future w/ the proper work ethic. I hope Jjames will be SEC-ready as a freshmen. Chaz, on the other hand, is supposedly ready now! We'll see if he is quickly if he comes here b/c we have a Guard position available w/ his name on it! Too bad Chaz isn't an EE like JJames. It would make a big difference.

James or Green will likely have to move inside at least early in their careers due to numbers...but I think both have prime size/athleticism for the tackle position.

JMO, but I think James is a little more athletic than Green but Green is stronger and more ready to play right now. I see James ultimately being a left tackle and Green ultimately being a right tackle.

Green could come and possibly start right away at RT and stay there until he graduates or goes to the league. James may be able to take over one of the OG positions as a frosh since he's an EE...then make the move to LT once Douglas is gone. Should be interesting to see how it plays out if we're lucky enough to land both of them.

Actually, I think James is more ready to play than Green. Remember Green has only played OL since last season. He was a DL before that. He has a long ways to go in terms of technique.

I have been following the recruitment of Green and James fairly closely, but how do some of you "Recruiting Guru's" think the James committment affects our chances of landing Green? Especially with Cullen still high on our board.

I'll hang up and listen....

No effect at all on Green. Plus I have a hard time seeing Cullen end up a Vol.
