The Tigers and Florida International have sent written offers in the mail.

"I've been getting other letters saying that they planned to offer me," Benedict said. "Illinois, Wake Forest, Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, Florida State, Michigan State, UCLA, California and others all have sent me letters."

A South Carolina native, Benedict plans to get to a Clemson game this year and has several other schools he would like to visit unofficially.

"I'd like to get to some games at Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Clemson," he said. "I also think during my open date, I may head out west or something, maybe go check out Michigan State."

From the Clemson site. Brent holds offers from 25 schools including Florida, Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, UCLA, Michigan State and Rutgers. He is totally open. He grew up in South Carolina and is very familiar with Clemson. He will look for a school that helps him on the field and in the classroon.

Alford has done his best to sell the positives of a Notre Dame education, and his efforts haven't gone unnoticed.

"He has been saying that I would fit in well at Notre Dame, and I agree," Benedict said. "I think that Notre Dame would be a great place to go to school."

It seems we need to consider every big ugly with talent and this kid's size who is out there next year.

Was he really a bust though? I don't remember him staying longer than one year.

New VQ article up. I'm assuming it says that we are getting a visit from him. Is that about right?

I dont think I'd call him a bust because he was going to be a 2-3 rounder until he passed away he just didnt play his best days at UT. I have met Brent Benedict and knew his brother Heath and I hope the best for Brent. If he turns out to be any thing like his brother he will be a moster. I witness Heath Benedict run a 4.8 laser clock at 320. His brother was a nice guy and its a shame he passed away so young.

“I would say that I’m more familiar with Florida, Tennessee, Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia,” Benedict told InsideTennessee.com last Thursday. “Right now I’m pretty wide open to these schools and a few more.”

“I have been to the Tennessee campus a lot,” Benedict said. “Heath really enjoyed his time there, the campus is beautiful and the passion of their fans is incredible.”

“There is nothing more exciting than the Vol Walk before a ballgame,” Benedict said. “Game day at Rocky Top is hard to beat for overall atmosphere and excitement.”

Per Rivals... Coach Thompson stopped by his school a couple of days ago...
