That's tough to say. I would guess we would go after Kevin Nelson. We haven't spent much time on him and he is currently committed to Miami so who knows how he would treat us making a late push. We may also go after an OOS player or 2. Outside of that we may just keep Gideon and call it a class.

I think the odds are very likely that we land at least 1 of those 3 though.

We would pass on LB this year. We have Ajagbe committed and Elam and Haden might grow into the LB position and we already have a lot of depth currently.

I don't think we are even going after Jones and I think we view Hicks and Luc as guys we want not necessarily have to have. I feel pretty comfortable with Hicks right now though.

Yea I kind of spaced on that. I think I was thinking back a little while ago where he was considered a seminole lock and we weren't putting much effort into recruiting him, not that we wouldn't take him if he wanted in. I still think he ends up at FSU and think he is below Luc and Hicks on our board.

On the new "Weekly Whispers" at Rivals, it says Luc has really fallen off of FSU and that the Gators dont have Luc very high on their board anymore.....mentions that cause of these circumstances, he believes UT leads for him at the moment. Take it for what you will. I'd take Hicks over any LB in this class. I got to see him play down in Cincy a couple weeks ago. Kid is an all around (blitzing, tackling, coverage) LB, where Luc seems to be getting kinda pigeon-holed into a run-stuffer type mostly.

Yea i think I read that earlier in the thread. I'm curious to see what happens with Luc. He seems to have new leaders every other week so who knows how it will end up.

Hicks will be a defensive playmaker. He's gonna give a lot of everything. I've always kinda seen Luc as your mass producer of tackles and decapitations. Hicks will be the better all around backer...but Luc will be a guy that puts up a huge number of tackles and a guy that fans get behind.

The starting MLB of the Carolina Panthers! That guy is pretty good. He does have the same physical build as Luc.

I think Luc will make a recruiting statement for us. I don't know if he's the best LB in this class, I'm sure Shirley and Hicks would make a case for that. However, the fact that he is the #1 ranked MLB will only look good for our program. Plus, I think Luc will be a good tackler, which we have stunk at the past few years. Too many missed tackles. So, I hope we get him, just for recruiting purposes, and I hope he turns into a awesome beast of a player and not Chris Donald 2.0

I agree with you. Him coming to us will be a statement. It may even start a chain of commitments. Yes, I think Luc will be a vol.

If UF has backed off of Luc, then they must feel pretty good about their chances with Hicks. I do not want to see great prospect go to UF, but I would rather see them get Luc and Hicks stay out of the SEC.

Isnt it kinda strange how even 2 weeks ago Jeff Luc was a "gator lock" and one of the best defensive, if not overall recruits out there, and then it leaks out that Tennessee may possibly lead for him. He loses a star, and now there are all kinds of questions about his game, and his overall worth.

If you are referring to me go back and read my posts. I have always said that Hicks is the best LB in the country hands down. I always have liked Luc but he isn't as good as Hicks in my opinion.

Also not everyone agrees that Luc was the best. Many on this board believed it, but that changes if the players looses interest. I was looking back at the T Bray thread and people were upset that he was the big fish QB and now he is the saviour that will start for UT next year.

BTW it looks like Hicks will be in TTown for the UA-UT game.

No sir Mr TideWarrior i was not referring to you. I value most of your posts, and woudnt take a pot shot at you. i was just basing what i said on things i have seen on here the past few weeks , you not included

Thx, I also agree with you , but alot of boards have fans that do this. They get excited about a recruit, then if the recruit doesn't show interest they play him down in talent. I think some take it to personal, but evryone loves their school and hopes for great things.

TideWarrior we are all just excited in general, we are a couple years behind where you all were when you signed on Saban. When he first came on board, Bama fans thought they could not get someone. In some cases it was quite true for the last 3 years. Now we went through the last 6 years or so with recruiting ups and downs. Now we are full speed ahead and have no lulls yet.

Can you let us be excited and when our coaching staff evaluates and we don't get one; he may not fit into our scheme. You have to realize how sick that turnaround was last year in Louisiana. I mean to go and pull a kid from LA, from LSU who had been a commit the whole time, really just supercharged this who season....

Remember maybe not next week but in a year, WE ARE COMING and not gonna stop for anyone

TW, I agree that Hicks is a great LB, but it looks like the Tide are fourth with him behind OSU, Texas, and Florida. Of course you guys are getting an official so you never know.

Personally, I've always though Luc was better. Luc is one of the strongest LB prospects ever and is physically ready to play college football now. Hicks, is a much more gifted athlete. It may take a year or two, but with the right coaching he has all the tools to be a special LB and a first round pick. Same goes for Luc, but he just isn't as naturally gifted with crazy speed and athleticism as Hicks, but his strength and work ethic will more than make up for it.

Can't go wrong with either IYAM.
