Wow....I am PLEASANTLY surprised by this turn of events. I thought this kid was pretty much a gator lock....maybe not so much now. With Monte, Coach O and CLT all defensive coaches with great track records of getting guys to The League (or turning them into Pro-Bowlers once they are there) its gotta be hard for defensive recruits to not at least give us a good hard look, if we are recruiting them aggressively. Come to UT and knock some heads off, Al Wilson style Mr. Luc!!

oh crap...

We are his first planned official visit.

Wow, that is awesome from not even being on the radar to getting an official visit. That should give the staff plenty of time to work on him. Maybe there is an outside shot that we can lure him out of state. Our D would be even nastier with this kid and the games would be some much more fun to watch to see who this kid would lay out.

Our best sales pitch for this guy, won't be camp, meeting with the staff, or an official visit...it will be watching Monte's defense hound opposing offenses this season on CBS and ESPN.
Analyst's will (for ratings sake) repeatedly talk about Monte...and inadvertently advertise the worth of playing for this coaching staff. The best commentary on a person's worth is what others say about them...so, let's wait and let the broadcasters sell them.

Coach Woody Widenhofer (LB coach and then DC for the Pittsburgh Steelers...4 Superbowl rings) is the best comparison I can think of. His resume rivals Monte's, and his defenses at Vandy gave Peyton fits his entire college career at UT. Give him a team like UT, LSU, UGA, UF, etc and imagine how dangerous the defenses would be. Monte will have that kind of impact, and players like Luc will want to be a part of that. We won't have to recruit all that hard, either.

Woody is a 4 leter word at the U of M. How can you have so much success at the pro level and drag a program that much farther down is beyond me.

This truly is evidence of how hard this staff is working to bring in the best possible talent. Whether we get this kid or not its still huge for the fact that nobody thought he was even interested a month ago.

That was in 85-88...he has had a lot of success as a DC since then. Monte didn't last long as the HC of NC State, either. Does that mean he isn't any good as a DC, then? Is that what your saying? I guess Pete Carroll isn't any good either since he ran the Patriots into the ground, right?

If there was ever a time to paint the rock, somebody better paint the da*n rock when he comes rollin through. This would be huge.

I'm not getting my hopes up on this one at ALL!! Luc is a huge long shot any way you slice it but still, this would be a killer pickup!! :good!:

Being in his top 5 and getting him here for an official visit is huge. I'm assuming he will take officials to Miami, Florida, and FSU. Does anybody know where his last official may be?

Few UGA fans seem to think they have a chance at him. Don't know if it's because they pulled his teammate ( LB Deon Rogers) or not.

I just can't get excited about this guy. Maybe it was because all I heard was that we had no chance to get him for so long that it's hard for me to believe that we actually do now. I guess I'll just believe it when I see it.
