Decent post except for what I highlighted.
Here's the story on USC:
There's no doubt about the talent base in Southern California, and Carroll has really done an excellent job of recruiting. However, UT will soon be on par with USC's talent. Forget for a moment our budget we have for recruiting purposes. USC's facilities are woefully inferior to those at UT. The campus is in a less than desirable location in LA. Tennessee's tradition, facilities and stadium recruit themselves.
You can compare USC's situation to that at Miami. The last time I was down there I was scratching my head at how they could get anyone to come play there. Facilities are terrible and the Orange Bowl was right in the middle of the ghetto (heck, they're playing on a baseball diamond off campus now). It's simply by location that they attract recruits. They're in their backyard and many young kids like the big city lifestyle of the two locations (i.e. Miami and Los Angeles).
The recruiting abilities of Kiffin & Co., combined with the nicest facilities in the country (only Oregon can compete with UT), will bring in top-notch talent in the near future. When all phases of Neyland Stadium's renovations are complete, nothing will compare.
