I would like to give a small update about Jac's take on Luc. When I told what he said after the Auburn game Jac felt Luc did not like UT because he did not get into the game much at all and Jac never really got to talk to him. Now Jac does not know much about the situation except were in it more than he thought. By the way he is taking me to the Memphis game :)

I heard he was already sold by game time and he was texting his parents about committing....

Luc has no family in Cali.

Luc has family (uncle) in the Knoxville area, but people are saying his parents have to get up to UT before he commits to us. If his parents have not visited our campus and he announces he is going to commit somewhere, I will not feel good.

By the way, watching the USC game in its entirety on my DVR, you cannot help but notice that Monte Kiffin is worlds better than their DC. They have so much talent and yet they get ripped for so many yards and points against an Oregon State team who seemed to have 1 real super talent.

I think TN will end up being better than USC because I think we will have a more dominant defense. Take the offense Pete Carroll gets out there, add in a defense that does not allow many touchdowns at all once Monte is playing with guys like J Smith and Luc etc. and you have the makings of a dynasty.

If Charlie Strong leaves Florida this year, we will have a great chance of a truly special next 5 years coming up.

Pete Carroll knows what he's doing he has been a defensive coach his entire career and has put some of the best defenses in college football together. Also they have a huge advantage by simply recruiting the state of California for talent, Lane is always going to struggle to pull the type talent USC pulls every year.

On Strong, the problem is Luc is an EE. He may not know whether Strong is going to leave or not before he has to commit and enroll in school. I believe Jeff is going to take all his visits and come early December make an announcement. I don't see him committing anywhere til he has taken all his visits.

Decent post except for what I highlighted.

Here's the story on USC:

There's no doubt about the talent base in Southern California, and Carroll has really done an excellent job of recruiting. However, UT will soon be on par with USC's talent. Forget for a moment our budget we have for recruiting purposes. USC's facilities are woefully inferior to those at UT. The campus is in a less than desirable location in LA. Tennessee's tradition, facilities and stadium recruit themselves.

You can compare USC's situation to that at Miami. The last time I was down there I was scratching my head at how they could get anyone to come play there. Facilities are terrible and the Orange Bowl was right in the middle of the ghetto (heck, they're playing on a baseball diamond off campus now). It's simply by location that they attract recruits. They're in their backyard and many young kids like the big city lifestyle of the two locations (i.e. Miami and Los Angeles).

The recruiting abilities of Kiffin & Co., combined with the nicest facilities in the country (only Oregon can compete with UT), will bring in top-notch talent in the near future. When all phases of Neyland Stadium's renovations are complete, nothing will compare.

All of that and the fact they are in the spotlight every year and for the most part remain in the top 10. Got to like the chances of getting a ring at USC.

you do realize that Pete Carroll is the defensive mind behind some of the better defenses in college football this past decade....and I wouldn't count Florida out in 5 yrs just because they might lose Strong.

I do realize this.. But, when they need answers they call upon Monte. Or at least they used to.

Wow.

I think that being in Tennessee is a bid disadvantage with recruiting. For some kids I think location is too big of a factor and Texas, California, and Florida teams have a big advantage because of the recruits within state. Not that a staff can't overcome it, but I think it is hard to sustain.

OSU Recruiting Visit Report .... lord vader do u know what the article said????? it was on scout.. the title says osu report but it talks bout usc and luc ?

btw is there a time table for him committing?

He plans on enrolling early...so you're probably looking at mid-late November at the latest.

Now, I could definately see this dragging out past the cutoff for spring semester and possibly going all the way to NSD. He keeps everything so close to his chest that you just can't tell with him. I truly think that he feels uncomfortable with the whole process.

If Pete Carroll died in a plane crash before last season and I was the defensive coordinator, I could have guided that defense to glory.

The amount of NFL calibre talent he has on his defense leaves him no excuse for the pitiful performance against Oregon State.

UCLA had only 186 yards of offense against us, they are in the midst of an ugly collapse (Stanford really was the bad loss in this current stretch) but lets see if they have more or less yards against a defense that NO ONE can argue has more talent on it.

When you look at what Pete Carroll does with his star studded defense it is remarkable he is able to maintain the reputation of a defensive guru. They looked great against Cal this year, they looked okay against OSU until it turned out OSU just has no offense, and they looked awful against Notre Dame and Oregon State. Do you think Monte Kiffin would have allowed the same pass play to the tight end to work all game? The trojans looked more like the Georgia defense than the TN defense.

Oregon State scored more on USC than they did on Portland State, but they scored tons more than they did on Brian Kellys Cincy team that gets no respect for its defense.

If you watched the game, and you watched the Alabama game, there can be no question in your mind who is better as a defensive coordinator.

Luc is a lock. After Monte's call he said this was his home. I'm still waiting freak's permission/ guidelines on posting interviews, but I finally got someone to answer at his house and have interview completed.

Well I'm now going to stay up all night.

Did you get any impression on when he would be announcing?

No need to stay up it won't be posted tonight. Also, they are playing it so close to the vest (I'd say mid-November), its hard to be sure.
