'10 CO DE Chris Martin

What the hell are y'all going to do with all these defensive linemen? Field two teams? Jesus
we graduate 5 defensive linemen this year and with the way RJR Jaye Howard's been progressing there's an outside shot he could jump too so we stocked up a year before. lessons learned from the defensive disaster that was 2007.

but yeah there's the potential for a monster rotation down the line. too bad Martin did not end up at Florida the first time around as we could use some more depth at DE right now.

the guys story doesn't mesh with what i've heard. seems like the kid is a bit of a head case and had no interest in off season workouts or socializing with his teammates. super talented though.

Very Smart move, the Bay Area is NO JOKE.

I hope he makes the best of his new surroundings and opportunity .

i haven't heard anything because I didn't think he'd pick Florida. he could still be a headcase but what's been said publicly by Jeff Tedford and Chris's father seem to line up a lot better with the suggestion the reason he's leaving is because he's being Bel-Air'd.

TEDFORD:
“This is a decision that Chris and his family have made to do what they feel is in the best interest of Chris,” said Tedford. “We wish Chris the best as he pursues his college football career. It is always important for young men to make the correct decisions to be able to reach their full potential.

"I understand his concern with the continued outside distractions he’s facing, and I support Chris and his decision to transfer. I wish him and his family all the best.”

CHRIS'S FATHER
"I'll let Chris do the talking in his situation but Chris and the family thought that the distractions he left the bay area for in high school wouldn't be a problem but it became apparent after he came back that that wasn't the case and that it would likely only become more of an issue later so best to make the decision now.

"It's hard because the Cal staff and family have been nothing but great this whole time. It's not related to the Cal program whatsoever.

"It's disappointing but we wish the Cal program well."

classic tedfordspeak. means nothing. he also said our DC who got fired left to spend more time with his family

all we really know is the kid has a history of regurally changing his mind. that isn't to say i'm happy he's going to florida.

Martin is being brought in at the Mike MLB/DE hybrid position that Brandon Spikes played. Spikes was 255 pounds and I have heard Martin is anywhere from 240-260 pounds at this moment.
