'10 CA S Dietrich Riley

Taking official visit here, likes Tennessee known Orgeron since his days at USC, really good friends with Rettig, also keeps in touch with Markeith Ambles. Says distance won't be a factor and he's wide open.

Riley says he is definitely taking a visit to Tennessee.

"I'm still wide open, but I know of one school that I'm going to take an official visit to and that's Tennessee," Riley said. "It's up in the air right now, my family and I have been talking about me taking an official visit out there, I haven't confirmed it, but maybe, I'll be going out there when they play Georgia."

"Playing time is definitely important to me," Riley said. "I am looking at depth charts when it comes to looking colleges."

"I just want to play ball," Riley said. "I'm not too worried about what position I play at the next level."

FWIW, we're the only ones that he says is definitely getting a visit.

"Tennessee is after me hard, I hear from them somehow probably every day, even if it's just letters in the mail. They are really going to make some noise in the next few years I think because of all the energy that staff has. Their coaches have lots of NFL experience, especially with Monte Kiffin running the defense."

We're recruiting him the hardest.

It may be a forgone conclusion already, but I heard some REALLY good news today.

This was posted in usc's rivals message board on Tuesday by a respectable poster in their community. Not a moderator, but a long time poster. Those jerks can't have every safety ... can they?

When the safties are sitting right in their back yard...unfortunately yes...

Look at their roster...

Yes, USC recruits nationally...but I bet 75% of their incredibly talented roster comes from within a 30 mile radiius of that campus

Edit...Just looked at USC's 2008 roster...81 out of 99 players were from CA...

I didn't do a proximity check but I'd be willing to bet that the majority of those are within no more than 50 miles of LA

Just because UT is after him the hardest doesn't mean we will get him. He's a Cali kid so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at USC. I just hope that we can end up pull the talent in every year and be stacked at every position like they do. That would be awesome.

we cannot expect to pull many guys from USC's backyard and yet we are putting so much effort into it. Is Kiffin thinking he can go toe to toe with Pete in recruiting without coaching a game? Its not gonna happen. Maybe next year. I guess you could call all this groundwork for then?

USC is so stacked at DB that I don't understand why Riley would go there. He'd have less of a chance of playing safety then Scroggins would have of playing QB I think.

Wheres the room on their roster for the other 18 positions?

Honestly though, from what I've heard about Riley, he's a good enough and smart enough player to go in there with 20 other guys and still have a solid chance at making an impact in is second year or so. He has all the tools and I would LOVE for him to be a vol.

Dang USC is deep!!!! I don't care if I was from Cali or not or even if I was a 5*, I wouldn't go there with so many other guys begging for time. I'd go where I could contribute immediately like UT!!!:wink2:

Tennessee, who Riley says is probably recruiting him the hardest and he has family there as well, may be coming at him the most.

“They are sending me about four handwritten letters a day, letting me know just how interested they are in me attending school there."

Per Scout... He says Michigan, Bama, and Oklahoma are also coming at him hard...
