Just like Jesse Scroggins wouldn't go to USC because they have such talent at QB.

Where have I heard this before??? A CA high school grad, a CA university, already has good quarterbacks, no way he'd go there... man that sounds familiar!

I've tried to find the source of this quote, anybody know to whom he said this? Also, he camped at USC and UCLA and neither offered FWIW.

but them being a powerhouse program helped tho. ucla is anything but a power house program i think whoever wins the game between us and ulca is where he will go.JMO

Seriously? You think he'd base his commitment on who wins a single game? May be true for a HS student, but hopefully he has wise parents and a good fb coach who will convince him to consider more tangibles... receivers, running backs, ability to start, 107,000 in the stands, coaches, etc.

i know and that is the main reason we will get him i was just sayin when we win that game then that will make him a lock for us

If he waits until NSD to commit, I think that's a huge mistake. You really need a QB to commit earlier than that for the sake of recruiting. However, if we land Milton and another top WR to go along with Ambles, it might not matter anyways. I would say if he waits until NSD, Brunetti will be committed to UT by then. Getting Brunetti and Bray, now that would be sweet.

I feel the staff has learned an important lesson in regards to recruiting QB's. They won't sleep on Bray and will get after him. Forget about Brunetti. He's bitter for not being offered right away when he was all Voln and now JS is gone, he'll do what he can to screw the staff for saying he's not right and then trying to get back in with him. We'll be fine with Lamison and hopefully Newton and or Bray.

I keep reading in alot of threads about how we have messed up recruiting a QB this year. Then in other threads its how great our coaching staff is and how great they are at recruiting. Which one is it? Are they good or not?

ps. This is not directed at anyone poster.

I think the assembled staff are excellent recruiters, but that doesn't mean they may not have misread the QB situation. Also, probably didn't expect BJ to take off which changed things quite a bit. Otherwise, possibly waiting to get a 2011 pick would make sense other than top QB's always help with getting other commitments.

we have done well recruiting in every area but QB. QB is different then any other position because they commit early and require a long relationship to get that commit most likely. Something our staff hasnt had. But with that siad, they havnt handled it the best either.....

Being from California, and from the area he is from, I believe he should go to Tennessee. The SEC in my mind is the best conference. UCLA is no where close to where it once was and UCLA doesn't have the talent it once did. Tennessee has a lot of talent, but just needs a great QB to be up there with Florida

They are great. Best recruiting team ever assembled. They were just behind on recruiting QBs and dropped the ball by not getting on some guys early enough and concentrating too much on one prospect. I remember reading just before Jake Heaps committed to BYU that Scroggins wasn't hearing from the coaching staff except through email. They tried to convey to their top target, you're my guy and not anyone else and that just wasn't enough to pull them.

:yahoo: The coaches get paid big bucks to worry about this kind of stuff. Its just like the government people. There is only about 10% that we really know!

we will be ok my friends

UCLA has at least 4 QB's on their roster and at least one commit, I'm not sure what I was looking at is up to date. Bray went to the UCLA camp. No offer. He MAY be trying to get them to offer but that doesn't mean they will. CRN is a QB freak like Gruden, I think Bray would already have an offer if he was going to get one. Patience people.

Thanks, not sure how I missed that...doesn't seem as definitive in context though.

September 12th seems like a long ways a way, when you are a program in serious need of a QB for next year, as UT is. I would love for this kid to take and unofficial visit in the next couple of weeks. However, I'm not sure what his family's finances are like.

Sorry, been away for a day but that quote was from the article copied/pasted from espn on pg 50. The quote pretty much says to me... Tennessee is great and all, but my favorite team is UCLA and I wish that they would start recruiting me.

It's somewhat telling that he wants to visit here when we're playing his "favorite" team. This may be completely off-topic, but remember when Tebow visited UT for the UF game and said that's when he knew he wanted to go to UF (at least not for UT)? When he found himself cheering for the Gators in Neyland?
