I agree. How dare some teenage kid have to think twice about coming across the country to play for a struggling team that hasn't been relevant in a decade when the first or second best program this decade is in backyard and has made him their #1 QB target? Clearly he's just a bad person. There's no other explanation.

I sense a hint of sarcasim but i agree 100%. Why not take him if he wants to come? AND CLK will if he wonts to like it or not! Some think Bray is better and some think Scroggins is better. Let them both come in and compete for the job. I did not like how he said he knew he was commiting to USC a week before he did but i think he didnt come out with it is because he wanted the attention from the media and be on TV.

the sad thing is about all you people that if scroggins was about to commit to tennessee you all would act like it was christmas morning yall would be so happy and you all know its true to

Right on. I don't want scroggins either. I'm sold on Bray. He is way ahead of Scroggins. If you read this Scroggins stay the heck away. Punk
+1. I wanted Scroggins too....but he strung us out with his little ESPN stunt and it cost a number of QB prospects, who committed elsewhere while he was dragging it out. If Bray stuck with his commitment to SDSU, we'd be up Sh!t Creek without a paddle right now.

THAT is how much the punk cost us. No problem with him going where he wants, but stringing us out like he did, hurt this program in REAL, tangible terms. He didn't hurt my feelings or anyone else's. He hurt this team, and that's why I'd take any other prospect but him. Bring on Newton and we're set.

Negative...as I mentioned above, the kid hurt this program bad. He told Pete Carroll OVER 3 (critical) weeks before he made his announcement on ESPN, that he was choosing USC. During this whole time, we lost Rettig and Rees to other schools...and Scroggins knew other prospects we were also after were dropping off the board like flies. He didn't care....he just wanted all the attention. Well...that's probably the last time you'll see his face on ESPN...sweet justice, I'd say. We don't that kind of attention hog. Let his @$$ have a permanent indentation from the bench at USC, for all I care. He wanted 20 min away...He's got it, all of it. 4yrs of bench-riding pleasure, and clipboard carrying goodness.

So I suppose Bray "de-committing" from SDSU isn't worse than Scroggins "stringing us out", and yet we're more than happy with Bray's actions! I actually prefer Bray over Scroggins as well, but give Scroggins a break. Yes, he is immature... but who wasn't when they were in HS?

I like Bray better than Rettig or Rees.

As for JS, I've got no ill will towards him. He enjoyed the process and limelight. He chose USC. Good luck to him. If it caused harm to our team, which I don't believe it did, it was the coaches' fault. Shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket...

I think Bray very well could end up the best qb in this class.

It would have felt a lot more like Christmas before Bray committed. Now, it would be more like a birthday.

Give me a break.

Jesse didn't do anything malicious to hurt this team.

This staff, for all the defending I do for them, made a few errors in how they handled their offer process. They can't be perfectly prepared for every situation, it's just not possible. And that had nothing to do with Scroggins. He didn't sit back and think of ways he could string us along and make us lose out on other prospects. Distance to this point has been a factor we could not overcome.

And Markeith Ambles still committed here before we ever got Bray's commitment. This staff knows how to recruit and the addition of a QB to this class (Bray) still hasn't automatically caused the OL prospects to start committing one after another like the cause/effect situation people assumed Scroggins would set in motion. I highly doubt if Scroggins was the QB the OL prospects we are going after would've committed then either. They're just taking their time like a lot of kids in this same situation.

If bray wasnt so skinny he would probably be a 5* IMO

Bray was competing in the Camps to get the attention of MAJOR programs, but before we offered, he had none...most already had their guy by then. That's why Scroggins little stunt hurt our program. We could least afford to be strung out.

We DESPERATELY needed to snatch top prospect before they all got away. They pretty much did, thanks to Scroggins (and this staff putting all their eggs in his basket).
We're not talking a matter of immaturity here. We're talking about a punk wanting to soak up all the national attention he could at the expense of hanging this team and staff out to dry because of it...especially when they rolled out the red carpet and made him a clear No.1, instead of just another prospect. He told Carroll 3 weeks of his plans before he told our staff. That pisses me off to no end, and why I want his punk self to rot on the sidelines at USC.

You may not intend to hurt someone with comments you make or things you do, but that doesn't mean you aren't aware ahead of time that they CAN or WILL cause harm. If Scroggins had a shred of character, he would've at the very least....called CLK right after he told Carroll. Scroggins KNEW damn well he was hurting this program with his ESPN Waiting Game. He didn't have to have intent...he just didn't care.

We are very lucky that Bray switched (after all SDSU is in his back yard. Having to rely, late in the game on a Top prospect switching is a a high stakes gamble. We could've rolled snake eyes and ended up having to rely on nothing but JUCO prospects.

I wouldn't....

I am happy with Bray. He is our guy now. If Scroggins decided to come here, cool. I would favor Bray over him though.

I personally don't care what Scroggins does. I wish this thread would go away. :)

I believe Bray has as much potential to be an excellent D1 QB as Scroggins and Rivals agrees.

I agree completely with this, i do think that bray has more upside, im just glad that when he finally made it public, no one cared, i think him and his dad thought it was going to be like the big news of the recruiting year, and everybody would be sitting at home waiting for him to announce. Have fun riding the pine Jesse. Most of us have forgoten about you.

It's amazing how some people allow their feelings to be hurt by the decisions of 17-year-old kids.

We do take the game of football way too seriously and allow our feelings to be hurt but to be fair, we aren't the ones offering 17 year old kids 80,000 dollars for a game that in reality isn't important. No more important than a board game... It's a form of entertainment. The world would function just fine without kids giving each other head injuries and knee problems. As long as schools feel the need to give them scholarships over kids that help the world, we shouldn't be surprised when people take it so seriously. Some of the kids who don't go pro do contribute to the world but plenty of them offer nothing to society despite being babied through school so they can play a game. The ones in the NFL.... Awesome they got a free ride through school. For the most part, that knowledge goes out the window. That could have been a kid that had ambition to help people in life but couldn't afford school. Or had ambition to get out of the crap hole they live in.

Don't get me wrong. I am happy with how things are. Those kids put in a lot of work outside of their schoolwork(some, some are given grades they don't deserve) but more importantly bring in money because of the product on the field. I just don't see why people get upset that people take it seriously when the school takes it so seriously that scholarships, coaching salaries, equipment, food etc. combine to be like 10 million dollars. That's a big time business. There are plenty of local businesses that are lucky to break even every year and these people are spending 10 million to put 17 years olds on a football field.

+1
He has every right to take all the time he needs. Thats why we have a NSD and if he wants to change by then well good for him.

I agree with you, but I also think he played things a bit and should have told Kiffin sooner (assuming he didn't). However, I stop far short of 'casting him into the lake of fire' for it. He's young. We all do dumb sh*t when we're young..

Having said all that, if he were to change his mind and come to UT I would not have a problem with that at all...
