the one thing I truly have noticed about the bunch on this site, they sure try to disect these things a hundred different ways. 80% of the prospects can be read from the get go. It is not near as complicated as many here try to make it.

It is mostly black and white to the prospects. If their school offers, that is it. Nothing else is a consideration whatsoever.

Distance wins out far more than it loses. Close to family, girl friends, high school friends, high school team mates and HOME is a far bigger priority than ANY other thing.

That should save me some time, Larry, but where's the fun in that?

So many conficting reports out there. One earlier said that UF was out.

Here's how I think it's going down. Correct me or disagree please. That's what we need to do to figure this out.

Bailey has known for a long time he was going to USC and he wants Jesse to go with him. Jesse had an amazing trip to see the Vols and was all set to commit to us. They he went to the Rising stars camp, had a lot of fun (Let me point out here that on visits, they really do push you toward committing at the end of the visit. They all do that and they make it hard to say no. Note that Jesse is one of those guys that let's the visit buzz get to him a little bit, it happened in Washington, not really at Florida, and it happened here. I'm sure the same thing happened at SC. The SC choice is an emotional one, the UT choice is a practical one. That's what he's tied up with at the moment. I do hope that visit happens and I think it will because I promise you he will leave a Vol. He won't see Florida though. I really do think they are out of it.

I tend to agree. I don't think a visit will happen because I think he's made up his mind at this point. However, if he is still a bit conflicted AND a visit happens prior to the 25th he'll be a Vol. No visit, no Vol. If he's mind's already made up, no Vol.

Good points. As bad as everyone hopes you are wrong, I am afraid you are spot on.

Didn't realize what I've been reading here was "fun". :)

I am glad you're here!

It's mostly just a way to get back around to football season. Baseball is okay, but it's a little slow and there's really not much to analyze and disect execpt recruiting.

Since most of us are thinking this step comes first in rebuilding the program, it has been getting more attention this year.

The analogy to Stone, really tells me where we stand with Scroggins. I'm glad Pete isn't playing us with this guy. He could have kept us guessing all season long.

Do you think Grayson will get offered this summer or are we fully in a wait and see the fall mode at this stage?

if not in wait and see mode, very, very close to it at this point.. I think if they can turn Rees that is about the only chance for something soon happening.

I want to apologize...I spoke with my dumba-- brother last night and he was ribbing me for posting what I did. Like I said last night, he will get a beat down when I see him, thats the advantage of being the bigger one.

I do apologize, I hate false info but he has been pretty accurate in the past. On another note I do think its good for UT that Bailey committed without Scroggins. I still think he goes to USC but its gives us more hope....

Blanket party???

After watching the spring camp video of Grayson, I'm thinking his recent visit wasn't for nothing.

He looks almost as impressive as Scroggins, IMO...and I expect him to get an offer right away, if Scroggins goes elsewhere. The wait and see will be for a 2nd prospect in the class

I'm glad when I came here to get the latest on JS that instead of going to "first post unread" which would have been several pages back, that I came directly to this last page. ....saved me a lot of time, thanks. I agree with everything you said and really can't/won't blame Jesse if he decides to stay at home.

That being said, if he commits to them and until he actually signs with them in February, I think I'll still hold out a smidgeon (sp?) of hope that he changes his mind and decides to become a Vol. After reading/keeping up with him all these weeks, he has become almost like a family member...:p

Thanks, Eric. Another year and I'll know how to use this site. :hi:

Btw... do you agree with LWS that it's Rees or bust for the summer?

I don't know. I think that if Rees was going to have second thoughts it would be after Hendrix committed and there's not been any rumblings that I have heard. ND wants to take 2 QB this class, and I think they have their guys.

Our timing just seems out of sync with these guys. We can't seem to love the right one when he's loving us.

ok, we HAVE to get a good QB this year, otherwise a (hopefully great) freshman starts in 2011. that said and without sounding negative....are we f$#cked, and is the kiffin era doomed if we don't get scroggins? there are no other good top-notch uncommitted QB's out there. i mean, there are people out there smarter than me that are saying that scroggins is the last quality QB out there. if we don't get a QB this year, there will be no good WR or OL, and i don't think we'd be lucky enough the pull a BB type commit again if there is no hope for a quality field general in the future. i just can't help but see a slippery downward slope if we don't get scroggins. i mean, let's say we had tebow last year, would we have had a better record than we did last year? just sayin...QB....quality QB is kinda important.

like how earlier i said "without sounding negative"? :p

That's because all our eggs are in the Scroggins basket, and if we don't land him, like Larry said we will go into the fall without a QB right now. Scroggins is our only hope for a QB this summer, IMO.

There is no way the Kiffin era rides on Scroggins' decision.

There are scenarios that work better for UT and the Kiffin era that don't include getting a 2010 Frosh QB at all, imo.

Namely, we have Stephens already (2 seasons through 2010). Add Cam Newton (2 seasons, but 3 out through 2011)... and we give an elite 2011 Frosh a year to get into the system. That class could be more fruitful towards winning championships. It depends on who the 2011 QB is.
