Everyone knows Scroggins is announcing on the 25th. Everyone has read all of this stuff. I just thought it would be fun to have a countdown until we jump for joy or cry ourselves to sleep at night. :wink2:

The one piece I couldn't find was about him wanting to play early. He said he is willing to compete but depth chart and early playing time is one of his concerns. So.... If he doesn't want to follow the crowd, he'll choose Tennessee over USC and Florida. If he wants to play early and be a leader, he'll choose Tennessee. If he wants to get out and play in the best conference in the country, he'll choose Tennessee. If he wants to help a team bring in recruits by committing on national television.... you guessed it, he'll choose Tennessee. USC and Florida do not need his help recruiting nor do I see how how big of influence he would have for them. Barkley and Brantley appear to be a better sales pitch. They will have more experience under their belt. A lot of the guys blocking for Scroggins and making the catches will be going pro after their junior season. In the mean time, Jesse Scroggins will be red shirted and pry won't get on the field until his junior season. That means those incoming freshman from his class might not even play with him on gameday. I will say that he can help recruiting in the sense that he knows/is friends with some of the people in his class but like I said, Tennessee is the one that needs help recruiting. USC and Florida stock pile 4 star recruits like they are water and combine to take half the 5 star recruits every year.

Sorry for the long winded rant. Just excited for July 25th and Scroggins announcement. A huge pull for Tennessee or what could end up being an utter failure. Hopefully Tennessee won't regret not having offered Rettig sooner or not having offered Montana at all. If we don't see Scroggins in orange.... we better see Cam Newton or things could get real ugly, real fast. We would be pinning our hopes on Tennessee winning 8 regular season games with a shot at a 9th by winning the bowl game. I don't think 7 wins and losing a bowl game will lure a big time quarterback. Then again, maybe playing time will be more appealing to some of the quarterbacks in next years class. Trying not to worry about that until we hear Scroggins announcement. 12 days!

How is this the staffs fault? They laid out the red carpet for him on his visit. I think he wants to be a Vol, but has to much pressure from family and friends to stay home.

My gut is telling me he's locked on Florida/Tennessee....

If I was a recruit I would instantly commit to UT, but If I was a 5 star trying to make myself better, I would want to be the kid that takes over once Tebow leaves....Take on that challenge, and gain instant respect in the sports world when I would start performing like Tebow, you would be cherrished like a god across the country and by the media, and hopefully NFL scouts.

Just me, I'd puke my brains out if I had to play for Florida, but logically in a kids mind thats what I see the thought process as.

Funny how a bunch of kids on an internet message board knows about the thinking and strategy of our staff; getting paid millions of dollars to make the right decisions. Why haven’t you guys been sharing your inside info. It is a legitimate source or some sort of ESP?

i think they are just frustrated because so many of use expected things to happen over nite, and we just snap a finger and get the recruit we want, i still think rees ends up coming here for some reason though.

Heaps and Scroggins was the main QB's this staff were after. they were scrambling for a #2. It may take some time to get someone they want. God chill out, we've lost players before.

Agree. He is currently a four star recruit and I'm not sure he'll end up a five start recruit. Whether he is four or five it shouldn't matter. Either one of those mean you have talent and your rating doesn't guarantee you'll be amazing, mediocre or blow. Actually, he'd probably be taking over for Brantley if he went to Florida. Brantley will be a sophomore this season and a junior when Tebow is gone. He has received a lot of praise from Meyer and Florida fans. Unless he goes pro early, Scroggins probably wouldn't get the nod until his junior year or as red shirt sophomore year.

Oh yeah....

I think everyone who isn't a Florida fan wants to puke at the thought of going to Gainesville and attending the university.:sick:

Oh I am not doom and gloom. This is all fairly normal considering what is on our team and how badly we played last year.

I meant he staff was not sold on Rettig plain and simple. They kinda let him get away. Scroggins is still an unknown. Unless I hear Hubbs or JB say they have spoken with him or the like and he told them something. And I have heard nothing like that.

Then there is the fact there is a whole season of football to play. I mean the guy Bama is starting this year was an average recruit. We are ok. This is all drama for not right now.:hi:

i like how most everybody on here has givin up on him already.. and dissin the staff and stuff.. 1st JS hasnt officially said anything yet, people take things way to far.. i dont think he even knows wat he wants to do so how would someone else?? 2nd how can u dis this staff.. they have givin 150% on getting JS.. we have the best recruiting staff in the nation, period...they will get a QB.. JS or not they will get someone this year for depth, and def get a top tier guy next year.. and btw i think JS is a vol

I agree. It's one thing to pass along info, another to take some recruiting service's word or your own assumptions and repeat them as the way it is.

JS to usc is pure speculation at the moment. Unless someone can give me a link where Jesse said usc is his favorite, then Tn still has a shot.
