Who are the best and most realistic UT commit QB's from the 2011 class that we might be discouraging if we sign Scroggins? How much higher would they rank vs. Scroggins?

Where did this even come from? We're in his top 3, it's not like we are grasping at straws here. The impossible happened last Spring when we got the number 1 player in the country.

It does sound like Scroggins will have a great view of the Matt Barkley era at USC. And, he'll probably be a great backup to whoever the Trojans ink between now and the time Barkley graduates.

He's probably following Mitch Mustain's career advice.

Barkley may very well win the job this year for USC. I would say that is what Carroll is telling Scroggins. But Corp was a 5* QB his senior year as well and has waited his turn. Barkley could actually redshirt this year if Mustain makes it grade wise and start his Sophmore year if Corp plays well. The USC job as of now is Corp's from what I have heard. If it was to play out like this Scroggins would only have his senior year to play unless he could beat Barkley out or he got injuried. Maybe this is a reach. But Corp is a good player. the only one I'd add is that the calculation that Scroggins plays his senior year is contingent on the assumption that USC doesn't sign a better QB from the 2011/12 class.

Imo, that's the Mitch Mustain similarity that I see in a Scroggins' logic of signing with USC. Mustain may never start although he could have gone to a number of other schools where he could have improved and demonstrated his worth to the League.

I do think USC gives him the best odds for a NC, but it could be that he's trading his NFL opportunity for bragging rights about being the backup QB for a NC team.

What makes me think he's capable of such poor logic is that UF is still in the mix. He's either not that bright or not that interested in the NFL at this stage. It happens.

When he said he would anounce at Elite 11 I first thought that isn't good news but it seems like something Kiffin would try and get the kid to do if he new he was coming. I know Hubbs thinks UF is still in it but I don't myself. I don't see how he would end up in Florida. I think Kiffin would tell the kid to hold off till announce till then to build up the hype. You beat USC and UF for a recruit and the offensive players that people seem to think ,as do I, will follow Scroggins to UT likely still won't decide till much later in the year.

I think with putting the announcement off + talk of USC offers to Rettig and Bray + Mothers family ties to Tennessee + all his earlier talk of the depth chart being an issue = the kid is coming to Knoxville.

When it comes down to it, he will have to decide if he wants to give up that California lifestyle out there or stay there and happen to be on one of the best teams in the nation. Or does he want to come to UT who has been down recently, but is on its way back to the top, and they happen to desperately need a QB that will lead that climb to the top.

If not then it will be just under a month before he announces so I'm not sure I see how he's helping Kiffin out...

Scroggins is quick to point out he doesn't have a leader among the three schools although he has moved up his timeline for making a decision from late July to possibly as early as next week. He might not say he has a leader, but several people close to him feel if he had to commit today, he would be a Trojan.

Yes you do. Hubbs seems to think that Florida maybe our biggest test with Jesse, but I just don't see it. Jesse does think a lot of Chris Leak though.
