So lets ask the million dollar question where do you think he goes eric? I know sab is saying all VOL.

Things point to USC in my book. Sab has also admitted that he's not 100% sold on him coming to UT. Sometimes a depth chart isn't what a recruit is looking for. He has made direct reference to Matt Barkley and not being concerned about his or competition several times. He has also made direct reference to Chris Leak at Florida several times and that he would be like him in Florida's offense when Tebow leaves. He may love Knoxville, but you have to wonder how he views that other positions on our depth chart. We aren't loaded like USC or Florida are by any means yet. That could be a turn off for him. I would love for him to come here, I just don't think he will.

How is it different?? He's either interested or he's not. Which is it, because where I'm standing calling the HC to speak with him makes it seem like he's pretty interested to me.

I really don't see why you think a recruit talking to the head coach of a university that is recruiting him is any big deal. I honestly can't get my head around it. This happens all the time.

i havent read a quote or back threw this thread yeat, but he could have ben calling to say coah thank you for your hospitality in recruting me but next week im making a verbal comitment to play for USC. or UT. or FL, like i say i dont know yet who he called.

If this were us or USC I wouldn't bat an eye, but it's someone that we have discounted him playing for. Even I don't think he is going to Florida and I have told you that in conversations. That's what makes me uneasy about it. So, basically it's like this, why is he calling Urban?? There can really only be a few explanations and I have given two of them, so what are the other reasons?? You think it's non business, or at least that's what I gather, and your not concerned about it and I gather that as well. So, give me a reason that Scroggins would put his Friday night plans on hold to call the HC of a school that both of us think he will not attend??

It's really just a two headed coin in my book, and commit would be one side and thanks but no thanks is the other one. That's what I believe is happening. I hope it's the latter.

That's exactly why the call is happening at 10pm. He didn't put his Fri night plans on hold. And if you think Urban is not going to make time for him to talk whenever Jesse says he'll be available you're crazy.

If you don't think he's going to Florida anyway, then I'm not sure why you're concerned as you say you are. But there are a million reasons for a recruit to speak with the coach of a school that is recruiting him and a commitment or a statement of committing elsewhere are only two of many.

Interesting... either:

Eric is right and Scroggins commits to UF or he tells them that they're out of it

or

Sab is right and we never hear anything more about this phone call.

A lot of e-cred points at stake here :) I'm casting my vote with Sab, just because we have literally no idea of the circumstances. Maybe Scroggins is calling at 10pm to discuss "business". Or maybe Urban is calling in a last ditch effort because someone in his circle caught wind of an impending USC commitment. Or maybe because they had scheduled around Scroggins' hot date. Surely anyone who has followed recruiting this year can appreciate the unpredictability of your average 17-year-old prospect. UT/USC/UF could all still be in it, for all we really know.

I see Scroggins' commitment as: USC if it's sooner than expected (i.e., within the next few days); UT if he really takes his time to analyze which situation is best for him, on paper at least; and UF is the wildcard. I like our chances better each day that goes by without a 'Scroggins to USC' thread.

I could care less about e-cred. I enjoy the debates and differing opinions. That being said, Scroggins to USC barring something unforeseen. :)

But seriously I have seen multiple people on this board and GQ saying things like 'more and more signs pointing to USC', even in response to the Urban phone call last night. Am I just missing all of these 'signs' because I'm an oblivious homer or are people trying to not get their hopes up about Scroggins?

I bet Pete said something to the effect of "Well Tennessee's a great place and all. I have the utmost respect for Lane, Coach O and Monte...but we're talking about a major rebuilding project. Here the only obstacle you face is just competition among equally talented players...but son, it's like that at any championship-level program."

I think Lane will counter pretty well, though. This program was on the ropes in 05, and bounced right back with a 10 win season and a trip to the SECC.
There is enough talent on this team to have that kind of season, new staff or not.

Unfortunately I say he's a trojan.

1.) An established, successful program.

2.) Just happens to be his favorite team

3.) Literally minutes from home (parents can see all games)

I just have a bad feeling that he will go with SC.

I think he just called Meyer to tell him he looked forward to singing Rocky Top all night long after beating them in the swamp.

And he asked if he had Jack Sells' phone number to see if he could get the lyrics faxed to him.

to me if he goes to USC, he would be taking a ez way out maybe we don't need this guy, cause he can't handle the pressure of carrying this team. We need a leader someone that is all vol, And I personally think if he choose anyone other than us he is not ready to be THAT GUY which says alot about the type of guy he is. And if he choose the gators he's just stupid cause the offense don't fit he skill set. So if he is as smart and talented as he look on film and we think he is, he will be a VOL.

VOLS if he wants to play and be the man against the best competition there is, TROJANS if he wants to stay close to home and play in the rose bowl every year. (Who else in the PAC-10 is gonna go?!?!)

It could be that he is creating some smoke since he has been pulling attention to the gators and USC before he commits to UT.

I just hope that he goes to USC if he decides to turn down the perfect opportunity at UT. Say what you want about how great the USC program is, but being a marquee QB in the new ESPN television package would be very appealing. Especially if I was thinking about the next level.

Honestly, both options sounds good! I'm afraid he's going to choose door #2.

Wow. I am glad I went to be early last night.

The way I see it is that it wasn't a call to commit. If so, we would have heard by now and UF would have sent it to the media first thing this morning.

It was either a call to inform Meyer that he was no longer considering UF or it was a call that was previously set up and he just kept up his part of the deal and they talked about random recruiting things.
