Landing an elite QB prospect is the foundation of this class. Some guy that comes out of nowhere this fall is not going to have a big effect on our recruiting class. Depending on how we perform offensively this year is a precarious position to be in. Our offensive talent is way below where most of our competition is.

We need a lot more than that. Offense is where we need recruits the most. Yeah, we're fine at RB, but we need more talent at WR, we need to land OL and good ones in the worst possible way. Our competition is recruiting in the top 3 every year. That's who we have to play against. Just getting by is not enough in this league.

It's the truth though Sab. We also haven't been able to go out on the road and see these players at their homes and talk with their families. It may very well be in the fall before we get "our guy".

There was something that he predicted and he was called out for in the past few days, IIRC. It may have been someone else, but this guy seems like it's him. He's the one that said Scroggins would be a Vol, and that's when one of his other predictions blew up.

If we don't get a great QB this year, or its ends up looking that way before the season. Does this move Nick Stephens up on the chart? Will he have more of a chance to start this year?

My boss (who is very well connected and heard this from him USC source) just told me that Scroggins has NOT commited yet, but told Carroll that he wanted to commit, but decided to think it over for the next few days.

Interesting. For someone that just wanted an offer, he sure has other things in mind. I think he's had those things in mind for a while now.

Ugh if this is true then it makes me sick. I hope when he thinks it over that the big picture of his playing time and future four years is well thought out. Either on the bench at USC or on the field here...

I think this kid has played us and Fla. Wants some hype. Good luck if he picks Usc. We go with Lamaison and Newton, Look to next year.

Some sort of good news: He did a similar thing back in late March. After he visited UDub he came back and was about to commit than changed his mind and thought things over. I know this is totally different with USC, but thought i'd just maybe post a trickle of somewhat good news.
