Even if he earned an offer at USC's camp, I doubt he would decide to go there. I think Florida is who we will battle with for his services.

Florida, I think is being hyped a little too much in this fight. They have nothing to offer him family wise like USC/UT does and I would hope that Jesse is smart enough to know that Meyer is more than likely going to Notre Dame if Charlie the Hut doesn't do well this year. Plus, the ONLY reason Scott Loeffler is there is to undertake the development of Tebow and that's the reason Tebow came back this year.

Sabs right Eric, Scroggins does not have an offer from USC. I just read it last night. He said people are saying he has an offer but it's not true.

He might not have an offer, but even if he doesn't win the USC camp, he will have an offer... now what I mean :)

This is a very nerveracking situation. I feel like we can throw the kitchen sink at this guy right now but he could still just go to USC because of the pub/location.

Great TMZ reporting there....

So your telling me that this is untrue and they just made it up??

Scroggins was equally excited by the offer from USC.

“I’ve always liked USC, it’s a great school,” Scroggins said. “They’re high on my list and it’s cool to have the local school as an option. I know some players might be afraid to go there because they signed Matt Barkley last year but that’s not me at all. I’m all about competing and may the best guy win the job.”
I think that they weren't supposed to let the cat out of the bag before camp. They let it out and Jesse had to play damage control.

2 National Championships in 3 years with better than 50-50 chance at 3 in 4 years is very good sell to players. Very hard to deabte that with a 5-7 record.....

Florida is a player in this but IMO, USC is where he ends up on signing day. just an opinion....

Yeah, but he has to see the writing on the wall that it's a spread offense. If he doesn't and still signs with them, I still won't lose a wink of sleep like I said before.

I dont see any real reason to get to worried as of yet. People can change commitments through out the year. which is becoming more and more common among high school athletes. I also think there is one or two more qbs out there that we dont know about just yet that will have big senior years. Even though i would like to have a highly rated qb on board as early as possible to help the recruiting process along. I do think Scroggins becomes a Vol in the end

Never saw a published quote from Scroggins saying he had an offer. Only thing I've seen is him denying it. Speculate all you want. I guess in this case the media is above stretching the truth or flat out lying.

He has to deny it if that's what the coaches want. To each his own though.

He also has to deny it if it's not true, pick your poison. It's amazing to me how people question the truthfulness of an offer when recruits say they have one and sometimes in the case where they don't question the truthfulness of that as well. This whole conspiracy theory stuff is laughable.

Recruits can mis-lead also... coaches can mis-lead also.. happens all the time...Nuke was told to go back to Pahokee and keep mis-leading everyone this past Janaury

you might be really surprised how often recruits mis-understand "offers". happens frequently...

Well I think it would help clear up all of this confusion if he just held a press conference and declared himself a VOL.

I know they"ll throw the whole Kif and kaboodle at Scrog, but who is normally the lead recruiter in Cali? Cregg?

I think one issue on the QB recruiting is that Kiffin and Chaney are making the QB decisions and not the position coach.

SO, are recruits getting the feeling that their position coach is not having much input?? If so, are there doubts from these recruits about that entire scenario?? Doubts in the position coach? Wondering how much time the head coach and Coordinator can apply to them if they come here??

I can see the recrutis raising many querstions about how things operate once they arrive..

I believe Eric is right on this one. It would seem his Lakewood coach let the cat out of the bag and Jesse has to deny it to keep the USC staff happy.

If Jesse has an off day at their skills camp and finishes 2nd, I would still expect him to have a committable offer to USC. This all of course depends on which school he chooses.

Yea I def thought that Reaves was CLK's biggest stretch in the hiring process. I wish he had went a different direction and gotten someone like Gran, who you could just point to and say he put these ppl in the league:......

So when I go to a gator blog it seems they think LSU is there big competition for him. Curious that here LSU is not considered a threat.

Even though he says he doesn't mind the competition, USC's depth chart at QB is something you can't over look. They have way to many talented QB's waiting in line.
