From what I've read, I'm not so sure that's true. I think he's #1 on their list, but I'm not sure he's far and above the others. His film definitely looks the part though.

He isn't so far above the others that the coaches think he's their starter in 2010, but he is in terms of his potential for stardom. Scroggins has every look of being a star at the next level once he gets in a system and learns it. It's hard to say that about any other prospect.

Agreed. There are other quarterbacks out there that have the potential to be stars, but Scroggins probably has the shortest route. His film is the only one where he consistently and accurately throws the ball downfield.

I still think the coaches could see something they don't like about him at camp and back off. It may not even be physical talent. It could be leadership or attitude. Keep in mind, at this point, I don't think Kiffin and Scroggins have ever met face to face.

I would be happy with either. I just want a commitment so we can start pinning down other recruits while selling our future QB. Scroggins sounds better, but if Brunetti has more of a passion for the Vols, he might be the better seller/recruiter.

Sure, that's always a possibility. But I think talent-wise, they've already seen enough to know that he's a guy they would take. You bring up another good reason the coaches want him to camp and to spend some time with him -- to learn more about what kind of kid he is and make sure there are no issues there.

Plus, locking in such a highly rated (mobile) QB early could help us land some much needed help on the OL.

It helps us more with WRs IMO, especially with the terrible QBs we have now. In all honesty if i was a wide reciever recruit i wouldn't commit to us right now.

Thanks again for the info. If you can, find out what he thinks about going somewhere that is taking another QB in this class. For example, if Barry Brunetti out of Memphis or another QB commits to UT, would he still come knowing there would be competition? Thanks.

he would have no problem battling it out for a starting position. he has talked about even going in usc and taking on all challengers for the starting spot. He said in an interview somewhere that he would go head to head with barkley if he had to. So i dont see it being a problem anywhere else, i think it would have to depend on his ego, but thats not a problem with the kid. His dad taught him well.

He's won the MVP of the 2 camps he has participated in this spring. He hasn't beaten out scrubs either...
In the first camp, he beat Jake Heaps and Stanford commit Dallas Loyd to win the honor...
In order to win the MVP in the UCLA Nike camp, he beat out some of the best QBs in the west like Chase Rettig, Pete Thomas, Nick Hirschman, and Tyler Shreve...

This isn't like trying to compare Andrew Hendrix and Munchie Legaux. Right Vader?:)
It's pretty clear-cut that Scroggins is the best QB available at this point. Will someone else make a push this fall and improve over the course of their season? It's possible. But it's Scroggins and then everyone else at this point.

I think TJ will be happy to know that he also beat out Brett Nottingham.

I'm gonna love watching your boy ride the pine for 4 years at ND. It's gonna be great...

I couldn't find that Nottingham was there. I know he was at the one a few days ago, but I don't know about the one where Scroggins won MVP...

Hubbs on who is more likely to be a Vol -- Brunetti or Scroggins.

Barry doesn't have a written formal offer at this point. I don't know if Scroggins will like it here or not. I think if Tennessee goes hard after Brunetti then it will be hard for him to say no.

I don't know how I get all these "your Boy" posts about Hendrix. He isn't my favorite guy. I think he can play and is going to have a senior campaign that will be ridiculous!
I'm no more of a fan of Hendrix than I am Scroggins, Rettig, or Rees. I do like Barry Brunetti alot since he's from TN. That should be "my boy"

The only thing that ever came up was the argument between You and I that Munchie was a better prospect than Andrew Hendrix. Now it just sounds funny becuase all of these huge programs are fighting tooth and nail to land Hendrix and Munchie is sitting there - phone not ringging after not living up to his early hype in two successive camps holding his offers to Louisiana Tech, West Virginia, Tulane, Southern Miss, and Oregon. and trying to figure out where he can go where they won't eventually turn him into a WR/LB.

So Hendrix isn't my "boy" he's just a better player than Legaux. Before camp and the Vol offer to Brunetti, Hendrix was 2nd on the board. We were areguing if they were at 3 or not (Munchie and Hendrix)
I said that the coaches like Hendrix way more than they like Munchie and that started our backs and forths.
Turns out that was the case. Munchie has all but been removed from the coaches' board, Brunetti is #2, Hendrix is 3rd and Rees - Rettg are all down there below those 3 guys.

I am glad these guys are on your back Sab and not mine. :)

Fact is, I totally agree with you on all these QBs. I can not understand how anyone can actually think Munchie would be a better fit for our system than Hendrix if they actually watched any of their videos. I personally think Hendrix is going to make a really good college QB.

I did play QB -not in High School, but in all of our neiborhood games. (we played real football full-on tackling) And it's the position I watch the most and I have had an interest in learning things like why the ball does certain things when you release it like this, or if the QB doesn't set his feet when he throws what happens different than when he does. I have been examining the QB position for a long time and I know more about it and what it takes to do it well then any other position on the field.

You don't hear me give my input a lot when we are talking about linemen o or d. That's not my specialty, but I am learning by watching tape and figuring out why one guy is a top prospect while another guy at the same position with a better video is not as highly though-of. I'm still learning, but I'm right more than I am wrong and if I don't know anything about it, I keep my mouth shut. Something Lockdown should do.

Thank you, Tennisguy. You're a smart kid.
