The three schools who are in it for Scroggins are UT, USC, UF in no particular order. I don't see him going to UF, but you never know. UT or USC are his likely destinations, with USC leading after he goes to their camp later this month. That's my opinion of course.

I fully expect the full court press while he is here, because obviously if he is their #1, then they will put the pressure on. The Brunetti offer was part of it, IMO.

Is the only reason you are assuming they will be his favorite is because its hometown team/dream of playing for the Trojan's? I mean do you not think at all that the depth chart will not effect his final decision?

Not really. He would have 2-3 years to play after Barkley leaves. This guy has said from Day 1 that he isn't scared of anyone of a depth chart.

i very much doubt montana would have committed if UW said they were taking another qb. the guy wants to be the man, not compete for hte position.

I heard on the Sports Monster this morning that Jake Locker was drafted in the 10th round in the baseball draft. He was drafted at the 40th round last year, so this was a big surprise. While he is expected to stay at UW, a big bonus offer could take him to baseball. This might change some things at UW. They might take another QB if Locker leaves and this could also put Scroggins right back in the mix. Has anyone else heard about this?

Still think he wants to play for USC myself. 3-4 day visit here will be critical. I really want him to come to UT, but if not...PLEASE let him pick USC. The Florida offer scares me the most. Urban is a hell of a recruiter (and a liar). I just dont know that the fact that Jesse has family in the state will be that big of a factor.

I guess it will boil down to which is more important to him, playing somewhat near family (they are in the Nashville and Memphis area right?) or going and playing for a loaded defending champion.

I just want someone to commit so I can start my "2nd coming of Manning" and (insert name) for Heisman campaign!!

IMO, Washington is not going to close door on pursuing Scroggins just because they took Montana. You don't stop chasing a better player just because you took someone at his position if there is even a little interest on both sides and there has obviously been more than a little interest.

and it has nothing to do with what Locker does IMO. THe Washington / Scroggins relationship is not dead no matter what anyone says. JMO

has SC even offered scroggins yet?

The short version of what I have heard is they are bringing in 10 or so QB's for one of their camps and whoever performs the best gets an offer. If I am wrong please someone correct me. And Jesse has been invited.

The reason he hasn't committed anywhere is because of the camp he is going to there later this month. If we don't get him committed before then, USC will be his likely destination because by all accounts he will be the best QB there and earn an offer. He already has an offer according to reports, but I think that maybe premature because they said they would offer the QB they wanted at camp. So, 2+2 = Scroggins.

Who knows, our coaches could back off Scroggins after seeing him at camp. If he doesn't perform, I don't think he will be pursued. I fully expect him to put on a show though.

If he performs and our coaches decide he is their guy, I think we get him.

I think the coaches will be all over Jesse. His extended visit means he is really taking us seriously. It's a good sign. We just need to impress

He would have to be pretty bad based on what he's already shown. Scroggins isn't coming so that the coaches can evaluate him as much as so they can recruit him and try to pin him down.

From what I've read, I'm not so sure that's true. I think he's #1 on their list, but I'm not sure he's far and above the others. His film definitely looks the part though.

I agree that Locker has nothing to do with any of this.

And just as clarification, Locker is NOT going to the minors and diss football (said it multiple times already). You can sign baseball contracts and still play football. The only thing a baseball contract restricts you would be to join your baseball team. From what I read, if Locker signs, the Angels would essentially hold rights to him for 6 years.

As for the contract, I am curious as to whether Locker improved from his first draft. He was drafted in the 2nd round at 40th out of HS. The only reason he is down in the 10th round is because of huge sign-ability issues.
