Go to 2:35 on the 2nd Scroggins playoff video above...

wish we could see that deep throw to the endzone better.

Nice vids! Thanks for sharing and welcome to VN, GoEagles!

I think I'd go ahead and pull the trigger on either Rettig or Lamaison. Neither would be seen by Scroggins as threat, IMHO.

No. Why would you do anything to jeapordize landing Scroggins? Youre right, he likely wouldnt see either of them as a threat, but why add another QB to the mix? Hes already said that UT and UF QB situation is very similar (which we all view very differently) but why ADD another body to that equation?

The other 2 QB's you named arent going anywhere, we can wait.

So if Jesse does make his decision next week, but holds off on his announcement till July 23rd do you think we will get any inside info to what his decision is before the QB camp??
I really think this is a UT-UF battle and he will weight the options next week between the two.

"Jesse Scroggins will be one of six quarterbacks competing for a scholarship offer at a Southern California camp Wednesday and Thursday."

Who are the other 5 qb's that are the usc camp this week?

If we are not fortunate enough to have Scroggins or Higgins commit to Tennessee, what is Kiffins next move? If it were me, I would get at least three lesser name qb's that are interested in being a Vol (Ed Sullivan, Munchie etc.) and hope that one would work out. This is my first post on VN, so please be kind. Go Big Orange !!!!

He would most likely move on and try and bring in Lamison(sp) for 09. Then he would look to Rettig, Rees, and Newton to try and salvage a QB in the 2010 class.

But lets think positive...Scroggins to UT!!!

Oh and welcome to VolNATION!!!!:hi:

Welcome to the board.

I assume you meant Hendrix instead of Higgins. IMO, we will probably offer Rettig immediately. We will more than likely offer Lamaison the Juco kid as well. Some think he is a silent anyways. We will likely get Rettig and Lamaison and we might actually pick up another QB late since Lamaison would be for '09, if we can find one that is having a great year that maybe flew under the radar. We could also offer Tommy Rees as well. He has been to camp.

Lamaison is almost a guarentee...I actually believe he is a silent commit...Rettig I am not sold on yet....In fact nobody is from his lack of offers...If Scroggins does pick us I believe Lamaison is next on board and We go after another experienced juco QB for backup....Maybe Newton if the coaches are impressed enough with what they see.....He is certainly interested in Us...There are more options out there and more will rear up as the high school season gets up and running

Very good assessment tennisguy. However I think that if this staff misses on Scroggins, they take Lamaison to help this season and likely Retting but I doubt they take any others after those 2. UNLESS someone just sets the world on fire this fall. There are enough good recruits for '11 that I think they will work with what they have and hope to get a really good QB for 2011. It should be easier to get a QB in 2011 from the standpoint that the offense will be more established and recruits will be able to see how its going to work, unlike now where its an unknown to recruits.

you gotta like this quote

"I have a real good relationship with Coach Kiffin. He's a young guy and almost seems like a big brother to me."

I think he will be wearing orange. The potential for him to see early playing time is so much greater at UT than the other two schools I just don't see how he could pass it up.

What Scroggins does, doesn't affect Lamaison. They are very, very likely to take Lamaison. He can't come until August. Has to finish up another SEC required class before he can come.

WE have to have another QB for the spring. Can't go through spring practice with Stephens and Rozier (if Rozier still around). So Lamaison is just about an automatic if he can finish up in Juco.

IMO, staff is at a point that they really don't like to be at. Taking bodies due to depth issues at a position even if not sure body will ever produce.

Thanks for the input LWS.

So are you saying you think they take 2 JUCO's (Lamaison being one) at this point in addition to 1 from HS? I could see that but I just dont see them taking 2 HSers unless one of them is named Scroggins.

Thanks for the opinions gang. Im with you Laimson. I think that he will be in Orange regardless of Scroggins decision. Ive watched video on Laimson and he looks good, however he doesnt check off receivers in the videos that I have seen. Thanks again.

This has been my feeling for some time now. Good point, thanks for your info!:clapping:

Not that they were a threat but with Nottingham committing to UCLA no one needs to bring UCLA up anymore.

Norm Chow told him he was the only "in-state QB" they offered....aawwww how special....nice spin Norm.....that of course translates into him being at least their second or third choice at QB.

I'm not sure they take 2 Jucos and didn't mean to imply that. I think for certain they need QB bodies in the spring, at least one more.

Long term, they need "prospects" here in 2010 to prepare for 2011 and beyond. That is high school prospects. Personally, I think it needs to be 2 but do they take 2 if they truly believe they don't have a great chance at being productive?? Call they have to make.

The main emphasis that Scroggins brings right now, is the assist getting a "high rated" QB brings. That is helping recruit other offensive players. There is a reason the offensive recruits aren't bringing down the door. Who is going to be their quarterback? They want to know.

If the strike out on Scroggins, it could be a lean summer and early fall on getting offensive recruits. JMO

we come out this year and put up 3,000 yds passing with a 1,000 yard wr and a 1,000 back then all this is moot..... they will be wanting to see about us then for sure

right now we are relying on hype and things in the past....we produce on the field and this recruiting things gets a lot easier
