USC bound boys...if it were up to him he would be a vol though imo. Too much pressure from his pops to stay out west.

IMHO... He is only making a public announcement on ESPN because this kid thinks he's the shiznit and his head is growing by the day. The kid is 17 or 18 and he is loving the heck out of some back-n-forth from USC, UT, & UF. I mean the kid is a 4* QB for goodness sake... What 4* star recruit makes a huge deal out of his announcement 7+ months from Nat'l Signing Day on ESPN?

The kid thinks he's the crap but instead he's going to be sorely mistaken about choosing USC when he winds up being the one who is cupping his own hands to catch Barkley's crap on the sidelines.

:twocents:

Posts like this are really not needed. There isn't any one of us who wouldn't love to be fought over by USC, UF and UT on a national stage coming out of HS.

That is what these kids dream of since they were little kids and it is part of the process for elite recruits. He isn't doing anything out of the ordinary and is actually trying to help his future team with a high profile commitment to attract other recruits.

Give him a break and wish him luck wherever he goes. As a previous poster said, he has helped UT's profile quite a bit by listing us with UF and USC, especially with west coast recruits.

He is committing at home with ESPN bringing some camera to his house, not at the camp, if I understand correctly. So, I don't think that he *had* to commit when he is in order to have his commitment aired on TV. He ran out of time to come if he wanted to stick to his original July 25th time line...but he is commiting on the 23rd now not the 25th. He could have committed after the 25th with the cameras there just as well as before, unless I'm missing something.

Wednesday is the 22nd.

.....At least we're not bitter about the decision he hasn't made yet. :whistling:

Oh, I'm not bitter CREW although it does sound like that doesn't it...

I strongly believe he's all USC (no sources) because of his father and USC being in his backyard. I do however hope that I am proven to very wrong come Wednesday because IMHO (1) we need him due to our lack of QB depth and (2) the likelihood that his coming to UT will jumpstart offensive recruiting for us in 2010 recruiting. I do believe we will recruit over him with a 2011 QB and that Scroggins is not the end-all to end-all QB's.

We simply need him to help other areas (QB depth & recruiting othe offensive positions).

Scroggins, prove me wrong and be a V, B! :salute:

In an interview with Hubbs his father said no matter where he goes he will support Jesse even if that is on the east coast

That still doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't want him to go to USC. It just means that he is OK with it if he goes to UT or UF.

Jesse's myspace status says that he feels betrayed, could that be because Dion went to USC when Jesse told him to look at Tennessee more?

Probably not but I'm an optimist.:)

Gainesvol, you are correct and I shouldn't fault and bash a 17 year old for being made a big deal of. I should've been better than that so thanks for calling me out. I'm just tired of this back-n-forth circus with this kid when he isn't even touted the next big thing...

Anyway, I do wish him the best of luck wherever he goes but like I've said, I hope he proves me very wrong and comes to The Hill.

Until Wednesday... :zeitung_lesen:

i hope he goes to SC myself, because paul jones has opend up his recruting, and jones is alot better than scroggins. even though we are not on jones list, that is verry subject to change.

Sometimes it does happen, a la Chase Rettig (see below). That said, I doubt Scroggins cares about who offered first at this point. He probably felt slighted by USC at first because they came to the party late, but he's clearly moved beyond that. I think he's a trojan.

“I committed to Boston College,” said 6-foot-4, 205-pound quarterback Chase Rettig from San Clemente, Calif., who chose the Eagles over an offer from Tennessee. “I felt I didn’t need to wait any longer because I felt comfortable with my choice. BC was the first team to offer me and that showed their commitment to me. I felt comfortable when I was there at camp and had a lot of fun and felt good with the coaches. There’s also a chance to play right away and BC produces NFL quarterbacks. It was nothing that BC or Tennessee did right or wrong, it was more about a feeling I had.”

If they had showed Rettig any respect at all after camp he would have been a Vol, but they did not think that he was perfect for their system at that time. He seems to be a very intelligent kid and was also looking for a good academic institution. I wish that football was higher on his priority list, but I can certainly appreciate him making a choice based on a good education.

I was wondering if it was because his coach told some reports that he was going to commit to USC at the 7 on 7.... Basically stole his thunder... He said the only person that knew was his coach.. I would think that his coach would be pushing him toward SC, I could be wrong though..

Your idea is more realistic, but I like mine more.:)

ONEVOL, I wouldn't say our coaches "screwed" this up with Rettig and Scroggins.

I do believe they should've offered Rettig sooner than they did after he camped with us but I believe they [coaching staff] were in between a rock and a hard place on all this. They (1) didn't want to scare off Scroggins (so they didn't offer Rettig until the last minute when they thought they could lose him, which they did) but they (2) didn't want to lose out on Rettig so they offered and it unfortunately was at the last minute.

Not the most ideal way to handle the two QB's but they probably did the best they could with what the two QB's gave us.

I don't think Rettig was anything more than a backup plan to begin with. I think the only reason we offered is because he was ready to commit to BC. If he didn't have a BC offer, I don't think he would have a UT offer either, at least not until after the coaches found out where Scroggins was going. JMO

you guys why would jesse announce on espn? have you seen another recruit announce on espn this year?. kiffin wants scroggins to anounce on national tv on espn to tell the college football world who hate on kiffin f*** you i got my qb and to let all the recruits see who is gonna be tennessee future qb to bring in recruits. hes going to tennessee it has kiffin written all over it

lol... me too.. That woud really suck though if the coach did that.. I'm not saying it did happen, but if it did just think, one of the few people you truly trust and they let you down like that.. I seriously doubt that is what it is, but that would stink it up if it was the reason...

I don't buy the Kiffin has talked him into doiing it on ESPN for exposure.. I would like to, but I remember the QB from Miami (sorry I can't remember his name) and he commit on ESPN to someone else... I thought Kiffin had put him up to it for National exposure that time, but he proved me wrong..

the coaches couldnt even talk to marve
