3. Cuonzo Martin to the Elite 8
The Tennessee coach dealt with scrutiny all season, too. But Martin earned the first NCAA tournament berth of his tenure, the program’s first since the 2010-11 season. It was a big step for the Vols and a bigger step for Martin. The Vols, however, weren’t content with an appearance. They ran through Iowa, UMass and Mercer by an average margin of victory of 17.3 PPG. Jarnell Stokes (20.3 points and 15.0 rebounds in three NCAA tournament games) has been the key. Meanwhile, Michigan is a difficult team to handle. The Wolverines have the most talented trio of wings -- Caris LeVert, Glenn Robinson III and Nik Stauskas -- in the field. They can hit 3-pointers and run the floor. But Tennessee is built for this matchup. The Vols have big guards in Josh Richardson, Antonio Barton and Jordan McRae. And Jeronne Maymon and Stokes will be a handful for the undersized Wolverines inside. Tennessee, meet the Elite Eight.

8. The Vols will go down swinging against Louisville in an Elite Eight thriller. Tennessee won’t leave Indianapolis quietly. Although the Vols won’t have enough to upset Louisville and earn a slot in the Final Four, this will be a tough matchup for Pitino’s squad. The Cardinals will need a late comeback to secure their third consecutive trip to the Final Four and a chance to defend their title.

We get to UofL and anything can happen. Position for position we aren't at that big of a disadvantage. UofL's press might be what is the difference. But a Stokes/Harrell matchup and Russ/Jordy matchup could be something to see.

I think JRich guards Russ Smith defensively myself. Smith may guard McRae on the other end though.

I'd rather send KY packing.
I'll be pulling for the Cats against UL for that reason.

Yeah I was just thinking scoring wise. I'd rather have McRae on Hancock. Saves a lot of gas.

Agree. Let McRae guard Hancock and JRich guard Smith. JRich's size and length at 6'-6 could frustrate the 6'-0 Smith. McRae woukd have the quickness advantage over Hancock.

In that matchup, Barton's ability to stay in front of Chris Jones is the key IMO. They are likely pretty familiar with each other too.

Yup. The biggest advantage they have is the bench. Rozier is a handful. I would want to match up with either one so I can go around Louisville clad in orange lol.

If I could look into the future, and know we'd win either way, I'd much rather us reach our first FF by sending the Mildcats home.

Without knowing the outcome though, I'd prefer our individual matchups with Louisville vs UK.

Much rather play UL than the kitties. Match-ups are better. Not in the dance for braggin' rights. In it to win it all.

The first ten mins in the first half and the last ten mins in the second half is very critical, start fast and finish strong.

Rather play UL than Kentucky but man wouldn't it be nice to send Kentucky home and us advance to the final four. Gotta handle business with michigan first!

Let's go ahead an look ahead to our matchup with Florida in Dallas. The only advantage I think they have is that they played on that floor last year. Aside from that, they don't stand a chance.
