10/5 AP Poll - Vols #12

Per ESPN:

“Before Sunday, the last time two top-10 teams fell out of the poll the same week was Sept. 16, 1986, when it happened to No. 8 Tennessee and No. 10 Ohio State.”

(For reference, that was the second week of a season in which Tennessee lost to Mississippi State and Ohio State - who had lost its first game to #5 Alabama 16-10 in week 1 - got blown out 40-7 by #17 Washington.)
Really weird coincidence that UT played State and OSU played Washington last weekend then.

This isn't a true stat

This has happened since then and before last week

Just one look and i found that Kentucky, Florida and Wisconsin dropped out of the top ten the same week in 2007

Also in 1998 Florida St and Notre Dame fell out of the top ten in week 2

They said when two top 10 teams fell out of the poll (ie, fell out of the AP Poll entirely) in the same week.

While Kentucky was in the top 10 in the 9/30 AP Poll in 2007, it was still ranked in the next week’s AP Poll after it lost (they only fell to #17).

Same goes for Florida (who was still ranked #13 in the 10/3/2007 AP Poll) and Wisconsin (who was still ranked #19 in the 10/3/2007 AP Poll).

Honestly, looking at the teams ahead of us, if we take care of business at Bama and beat OU we should end up in the Top 5.

Even if we drop one of those two, should still be firmly in the CFP.
