And why couldn't an upset with Bama happen? Ole Miss played them good for a half anyways. You can't just give up on games already, just because we are not supposed to win a game doesn't mean we can't.

Because their starting talent is better than ours and their depth is head and shoulders better than ours.

We can probably keep the game close for a half and hell we may even keep it close for 3 quarters if all the stars are aligned, but in the end, their talent (both players and coaches) will win them the game.

Trust me I would love to shut all the Bammers I work with up, but I just don't see it happening.

He needs to beat Ms. State and USCjr for me to think he can stay another year. We have the ability to beat anyone this season with the exception of BAMA (and we COULD beat them too seeing they cant put away an Ole Miss team, but dont see it happening). I can easily see us going 6-1 on the way out IF IF IF our defense shows up. If they dont it could be as bad as 2-4 but more like 3-3.

Just start with Ms. State in two weeks. Doesnt win there and hes about done.

Preseason I said 5 to 7 wins. Now 6 or 7 seems most likely, although if we can dump to Kensucky 2011 we are capable of dumping to anyone.

7-5 and CDD is safe since AD Hart already sees improvement and loves the CDD rebuilding plan.

6-6 and I think CDD is still here for at least 1 more year simply because we don't have the money to make an entire coaching staff change right now.

I think AD Hart knows that switching to the 3-4 D is a smart move and that it takes 2 years to get the 3-4 down where our kids can execute it fast and get the production that CSS is demanding.

Even nick saTan had a bad D the 1st year he switched alaBubba to the 3-4 and so did UGA when they switched.

3-4 is a really good D but it takes alot of time to get it down and there's so many different stunts, blitzes, ect that can be run with the 3-4 that even NFL players take 2 years to get it all down and execute it well.

I'll be stunned if CDD and staff aren't here next year.

amazing what glimpses of mediocrity can do for true believers. majors parlayed it into 15 years. georgia is at best, a good team, not to be mentioned in the same breath with orgeon, so. cal., or bama. they were good enough to make the once proud vol defense look like they were playing with nine guys. if the vol faithful are satisfied with another decade plus run of majors-like mediocrity, dooley's your man.

well they were playing with nine guys when ga was going for a 2 point conversion, luckily we burnt a timeout and got some more players in there..not that it mattered.

We have only won 10 regular season games 6 times in the last 40 years, I don't know why people keep thinking this team compares to our best teams historically.

That's a wack stat because getting 10 wins in 1980 probably meant you went 10-1, whereas today it means you went 10-3 or 10-4.

If UT can give the effort like they did yesterday going forward in every game then UT can win 8 games. The only problem is that teams rarely give the same effort week in and week out.

The Miss St and Mizzou games are the swing games. USCjr and Bama will be tough, but USCjr aren't world beaters. The problem is UT's defense seems to be getting worse and now teams have more and more film on how to exploit the hell out of it.

Neal seems to be coming into his own though. If Bray has a running game, UT will have a puncher's chance in any game they play. Kudos to Jay Graham and Pittman because I have seen more improvement in the running game every week. If they can continue to improve and the offense can limit its turnovers then they'll be in every game.

I believe we go 7-5 this season. The team is not as good as what was expected. Dooley stays another year.

*The above statement are my thoughts and by no way a prediction of the future of the TN football program.

Dooley won't be safe with 7 wins

Gotta play each game. We might lose more than expected and yet come up with an unexpected win against Bama.

I'll be pretty excited at 9-3. 8-4 would be okay, but mean we didn't win any games against good teams probably. 7-5 or worse may be looking at a new staff.

An O-line of mostly Jr.s building SEC confidence of being able to dominate a top flight front defensive 7 at certain phases is huge in taking the program to the next level. With this foundation now being functionally set its going to be fun to watch.

Currently aside from a miracle against Bama this is likely our best possible record going forward. My question is if we are able to manage winning out, except Bama, what are your thoughts? At this point I'm getting a vibe from some that DD has to do this or could lose his job. I also get the feeling from some even if he did this it still wouldn't be enough because we wouldn't have beat UGA or FL.

This is possible if the passion and heart we saw last night was for real and the coaches have figured out how to call a game. The D has got to improve significantly during the off week. We have found a decent running game and the pass has been there.

However I just have not seen enough to suggest we beat SC or even Miss State. Even Mizzou is going to be a challenge. I think a more realistic prediction is 8-4 and possible 9-3. If we can do that, go to AND WIN a bowl game and land at least a top 15 class then we just may be haeding in the right direction. We need Bray, Hunter and Patterson here next year as well.

Keep thinking that. Meanwhile, I'll be hard at work thinking of your new screen name. :)

My thoughts coming into this year was 7-5. My reason was switching to a 3-4 was is difficult and will add a loss or two, lack of speed and sec talent in our secondary, kicking problems, lack of a proven run game going into the season. Now with Randolph out and Magget's turf toe, our D is damaged a little bit more. Mizzu's spread read option offense is liable to give us as many problems as UF's did.

He will not survive if he loses the next 3 games...Period...The donors are already roaring so take it for what you want...0-3 the next 3 games and Mr. Dooley is done as HC at UT.

I think 8-4 will probably net him another year, with the bar set higher in 2013. IMO, 7-5 will cause a lot of uncertainty, because it will come with unmet expectations and a very poor SEC showing for the third straight year. IDT he can survive 6-6 or a loss to Vandy or UK, because the fanbase backlash will be so strong. Playing in Cowbell Stadium against a solid SEC team riding a momentum high will be challenging. We'll see what we're made of and where we stand, because that game will be a difference maker. JMO.

If I were a betting man, I would bet we lose to UA.

However, they are a between the tackles running team, and nobody has proven they can do that yet against us. Also, their DBs look fairly vulnerable. Not expecting us to win, but just saying I like the match-up on paper, we are at home, and will probabaly be a far better game than most suspect.
