#1 on my Phil Fulmer replacement list:

Steve Sarkesian is top 3 on my list. I'd put Jim Harborough(sp) up there, as well as South Florida's coach who's name escapes me right now. Butch Davis would be at the top of my list as well.

I agree! Butch Davis, Jim Levitz from South Florida, and Jim Harbaugh would be good for UT! wew have the money so lets use it!!!

Above the actual coach I'd like to know the crew assembled to get this guy. I pray to the almighty Football Gods, if Fulmer goes out on his own terms that we don't give him the "Ole' Phil has to approve of him" ticket.

How about Urban Meyer? UT can offer him another mil than he's making now. Living in Tennessee is a lot better than Florida. He could bring Mullen and put in the spread offense and put up big numbers here.

I say no to Meyer, Spurrier, and Saban. It's worse than kissing your sister. These guys coached two of the biggest rivals UT has known the past 50 years. I don't care how good they are, let 'em stay there and let's beat em with our own coach.

we dont need another conservative calling coach. We've been there with so many of our coaches. We need an energizing coach that will fling the ball all over the field and hang 50 on people. I really like June Jones, I'd love to see what he could do with the talent that coaching at UT could get him. People on here talk about coaches that brought up programs, he took hawaii from winning almost no games for a decade to having all the passing records shattered almost every year. Now i admit i dont know much about his defensive strategy but we could get a big name d coord. to compliment him and i think all the defenses in the SEC would fear us because all 12 SEC defenses are mostly geared to run stopping since the SEC is mostly a run-oriented league. None of the teams have a stellar secondary and i think a coach like june jones with his offensive midset could really get us scoring (which if yall remember that how you win, by scoring more than th other team). Id rather see us win 60-58 than 3-2 (sorry AU & MSU) because then you always know that if we need points our offense can go get them. Thats the direction i think we need to take with our next coach.

This may not be the best time to replace Fulmer, because right now the SEC is a meat grinder: 4 teams in the top 10; 3 with legitimate shots at the NC. Meyer, Saban, Richt & Miles are getting the cream of the recruits. If you were a Chris Peterson or Jim Leavitt, would you want to leave a successful post for a war zone like the SEC has become?

Why would Jim Leavitt leave USF for here? He has started something down there, why come to UT and struggle to win 9 games when he can stay there and win 11 easily.

I have been a CPF fan for a Looooong time. I NOW think the time has come for a change.

What I saw Sat. was disgusting. Bring in some new blood. I still like Chavis (keep him please) but a new coach will help.

I know it is a pipe dream, but the first 2 calls I make are to Jimmy Johnson and John Gruden! Don't laugh, $4 mill a year will make many think long and hard!!!!

We need to make a hire with a statement. I think it has to be big name or a smaller school hire that makes a big jump. We need to look now and not wait until the end of the season. No Skippy either, he is not all he is cracked up to be. Look at Steve Sarkisen, the OC at USC. Open the wallet and bring him to the SEC. Maybe Will Muschamp, he loves to Kick Urbans rear. Or even Peterson @ BS, nice offense but still unknown.

If not now, when is a good time. The SEC isn't going to get any easier.

"On February 22, 2007, the Idaho State Board of Education approved a new contract for Petersen, paying him $4.25 million for five years"

Just look at his stats: 25-3 in his third season as head coach.

I know some people are complaining on here about him inheriting players but look at Urban Meyer. He was HC at Bowling Green State and Utah for two seasons each and look at what he has done at Florida.

Peterson runs a wide open offense and isn't afraid to let his balls hang when the time calls for it. We need new blood, someone who has a fresh offensive mindset. With our recruiting budget and history Peterson would thrive.

People need to wake up and see that the SEC has had an awakening in the past 4-5 years. New coaches (Miles, Meyer, Saban (all three have their teams currently in the top 10)) and new offensive mindsets, not just the old style of run up the middle and simple pass routes. Fulmer has been a great coach but the train has left the station and Fulmer wasn't on board his style of coaching and playcalling are dinosaurs in a new era.

Tennessee will only be great again when the AD realizes this and brings in someone like a Peterson who is innovative and has proven themselves on a smaller stage. Bring in a proven coach from a small school and they get excited and become dedicated to the program. Bring in a so-so coach from a bigger name school and they feel its their right to be there.

When you are Boise State and you are playing Oklahoma you have to let your balls hang out there if your going to have a chance to win. You play that same game 9 out of 10 times Oklahoma wins.

As far as new innovative offenses Saban is an old school smashmouth type of coach and he seems to be doing just fine. I really don't consider Peterson to be proven yet. He's done well at maintaining success that was already there.

Also if i remember Bowling Green and Utah weren't very good when Meyer got there. He turned them around.

Radio this morning giving reports of former Steeler head Bill Cowher. I say ANYTHING is a better shot than the load of lard we got up there now.

Proven NFL coach with an attitude to keep the kids in line AND recruit???

Leavitt doesn't have to lift a finger in recruiting, guys that can't go to UF, UM, FSU fall in his lap. Plus, it's South Florida.

The name is South Florida but the school is in Tampa. The Tampa area is nice but a couple million a year will get him to UT. It's not like he's lounging on South Beach as a HC anyway. His family might not appreciate it but I bet they'd welcome the increase in pay/notoriety. I think people underestimate the draw that a historic power like UT has. You may get run out of town if you lose but if you win then you will be revered and make a name for yourself. He's not going to ever be able to do that at USF. The entire reason that you coach at a school like that is to use it as a stepping stone to a place like UT. Who wouldn't want to coach in the SEC?

That would be a dream situation. A coach like Cowher will command respect and will be able to recruit like a monster due to his NFL success. Just showing a recruit a Super Bowl ring would be much more impressive than Urban bringing out the trophies. Sadly, I seriously doubt we'd ever bring Cowher to UT unless he just wants to be the King of Knoxville. Maybe we should start some rumors that Meyer and Saban said that they can outcoach Cowher and would have won 2 or 3 Super Bowls with those Pittsburg teams. It's worth a try!

I heard the radio show also in Nashville. NO REPORT. Just a name that should be called. He will NOT come to UT! Please......

Sorry...but a "historic power"?? 2 NC since 1950 is not a power. He has a great thing going at USF. He is the reason Miami and FSU are not what they used to be. They are getting players that used to go to those schools. He would be a great coach for UT, but why leave the stability and a lesser BCS conf for the SEC? He would be an idiot to leave USF. JMO!

He is the reason for FSU and UM not being what they use to be? FSU has been in the cellar since 2000, I don't even think USF had a football team then. The arrival of CUM to FL is hurting Miami and FSU, USF is getting the scraps leftover.

By looking at your avatar, I like the way you think. Will Muschamp would be a great fit here.

no offence...but you don't follow FSU football like I do. I know from (not that I'm important) good sources at FSU that it is a factor. They are getting alot of very good players from Fla that FSU and Miami used to get. It is true. BTW... Levitt could be the next FSU coach!!!!! Watch out!!!!!
