I am too emotionally disconnected from our team to even care anymore. All I want at this point is Jones gone, to salvage the recruiting class, start focusing on next year, and giving our guys some hope that things will get better soon.
This is going to be the game within the game vs. KY. I'm sure they're thinking how great it would be if they shut us down for four more quarters to make it 18 straight with no TD. Can you even imagine...?
Yeah... it's him now. Previously weren't you one of those proclaiming that UT just needed to change QB's?
Based on what has been said and the decisions of the staff... I believe that there wasn't just a QB battle but a disagreement between Jones and Scott. Starting in spring, it was clear QD had separated himself. Scott started talking about running more under center to build the O around QD and to help the OL. He apparently thought he had Jones blessing... BUT... Jones wanted JG to win the job so he kept the competition alive. Scott repeatedly talked about going under center but when it came time to actually start gameplanning... Jones said no. Not only did he say no... he refused to end the QB competition and declare QD the clear starter.
Bottom line. This is ALL Jones. The stupid way the QB's were handled. The handcuffing of Scott. The stubborn refusal to change the O.
You're still trying to blame the WRONG PEOPLE. This isn't on Scott, Dormady, or JG. They've done the best they could with the situation Jones created by his ineptitude.
Nice excuse for Scott but it his fault. He is up in the box calling plays. At this point in the year he should call what he wants and tell Butch to shove it. But play calling does not explain a lack of execution. When you are this deep into the year and players are missing play calls or not executing them correctly, that goes back to coaching by the OC. We ran a flea flicker with no receivers going out. COACHING !!!
When we first saw the Team 121 garbage can on the night of the Georgia Tech game, none of us knew that no other image would clearly symbolize this season.
And it continues. We, the fans, are told that the powers that be know best and that no one should expect any rash decisions.
We are told improvement is being made, we just can't see it on the field.
We are told that our expectations are unrealistic and that Tennessee isn't the program we think it should be.
And here we are 7 games in. Incapable of scoring an offensive touchdown. An underdog to a team that we are expected to regularly beat up on. And in need of a miracle to even be bowl eligible.
