#1 Kicker is a Vol

Hopefully, because that will help our QB situation. We won't have to move the ball much on offense. Too bad we are going to anyways.
Exactly. The other teams defense will go into a prevent knowing the Vols ain't skeered to kick a 76 yarder.

And once we recruit the number 1 QB in the nation either next year or the year after that, we will be unstoppable.

remember watching Wilhoit in high school and his KO's were consistently through the endzone and sometimes through the goal posts. but, i don't recall wilhoit being a great kick off specialist.

We beat LSU for Janzen & Palardy. Now that's recruiting at it's finest. Gran was a great addition and I know more commits will follow.

98% touchbacks is incredible. 5 fg's all year is credited to their successful offense. I'm sure he'll get plenty of opportunities @ UT.

great to have Palardy. this committment might not get the attention that others have or will but it is a great example of filling a need with an elite talent.

I say we play ball control, get it to our own 41 yard line and BOOM, we're in scoring position.

If he could play this fall, the guy would need take oxygen to get through the games as much as we'd be using him, but unfortunately it wouldn't be that many PAT's.

For the Vols squad he is joining, he'll kick plenty of PAT's.

It's just the temporary state of the Vols' offense. By 2010, we'll start to see what our offense can do, but we won't see it approach full swing until about 2012.

I'm confused as to how someone could be so widely recruited as a junior after just kicking four field goals.
I'm sure he's good and all, but that is a little funny to me.
A few years ago, Maryville had two kickers at the same time who both could consistently hit 50+ yard field goals. Neither was widely recruited. I think one walked on at Austin-Peay, and the other walked on at UT only to get put on the field once for a single PAT.

Coach Conrad mentioned that around half of his offers were to be a punter...so that's one reason. The kid is extremely good at both kicking and punting, offering a team a lot of flexibility in how they use him.

Are you that worried about the pressure of game-time situations and that he might be a different kicker in the game? They can simulate the physical pressure during practice...but obviously not the mental. When the kid has this kind of hang time on his punts and kicks, can pooch and directionally punt, can land the pigskin in the endzone or beyond consistently, and has hit amazingly long FGs in practice - I think that you go after him...hard.

Yea same here! And of course those 76 yard field goals:rock::)!
I would love to see the opposing coach's face if he sends the boys out and lines up for one. They would either just laugh and call him an idiot or be like "what the hell is going on here?"
