'09 GA LB Dexter Moody

Here is his Rivals profile:

Dexter Moody - Football Recruiting

What's so great about this kid? I benched more then him when I was in HS and weighed about the same. His forty is nothing special as well. Why is everyone so convinced he's a major talent? Clips were pretty good, nothing spectacular.

He was a high school all-american. He apparently isn't too shabby.

All of these rankings for Dexter Moody come from Scout:
- 4 star
- #8 WLB
- #133 overall
- would be UTs 6th best recruit behind only Bryce, Nukeese, OKu, Askew, and Myles

I know alot of people think Scout sucks, but consider that Rivals had Toney Williams as a 3 star while Scout had him as a 4 star and in their top 250...

I think you are forgetting about Jansen Jackson, our second highest rated recruit.

I spoke with Dexter and he really enjoyed Tennessee and Tennessee is where he wants to play his college football. At this point, he's in a holding pattern on the situation as Tennessee decides on whether to offer Dexter Moody. It's our understanding that Tennessee is still in a fact finding/information gathering mode and it's unclear when they will make a final decision on Moody.

barring any drastic find during the research he will be a vol... too desperate for players at that position to turn down a All American talent unless they feel he is a threat to the culture/teammates/ or student body.

What would stop the staff from offering anyway? Would it be bc of is aditude with his teacher?

That would be my guess. Kid has problems if he is doing that kind of stuff to authorities. Now, you never know what the real story is behind all that stuff. I am all about giving these kids a second chance, after investigating the truth.

The thing is with this kid is that he has has a history of behavioral-type issues. This is why Georgia acted so quickly and decisively after the latest incident. The staff is trying to do some research on him to make sure he's a "take" guy. I honestly don't know what they are going to decide.

According to Scout and ESPN, Moody will be one of our top 5 players in this class if we take him. The Rivals rankings factor in his other issues which is why he's rated so low.

pretty sure he will, I think its more that they are still evaluating him and that they are looking into why uga released him.

"I was told in the past 24 hours that UT is being very thorough with this situation and will continue delving into Moody's background, etc., as deeply as it feels necessary. I'd expect that UT has someone talking to folks in Moody's community, former coaches, etc. This staff, I believe, is quite thorough in these situations. I'm told it likely will be a week before this situation clears itself up in terms of Moody and UT."

do t care how talented he is. If he becomes a Vol and acts luke a total JAcktard then best let him sign on some other team and screw up their team chemistry. I'd rather have Nick Riveiz than a screw up.

give the guy a shot, just keep him on a short leash. I think UGA pulling his scholly opened his eyes and I think you will see him mature because of it.

If he has been paying attention at all to UT football this winter and spring, he knows CLK will drop him in a second if he gets out of line. I say offer him, we are thin at LB.

That seems easy enough. Guys like this have shortened their own leash. All the staff has to do is yank it.

Besides, people do learn from their mistakes.

i have heard some uga fans beat there chest on pulling this kids schooly.
the only reason uga pulled it is because they know this summer they have 5 - 8 players prepping for sexual assault, DUI, talladega after parties, and weapons possesion charges.

You would think so but, the sad thing is some never do.

I hate when these talented kids through their paid for educations away for doing something stupid or for some a chance to make millions of dollars in the NFL after college.

I wish I would have been blessed with their talent to play football just to get my education paid for.

Personally, I don't want UGA's sloppy seconds, even if he were an angel. I think we can find someone just as good in another class. JMO though.

I want him...put him on a short leash....he is a great OLB prospect....hopefully this has matured him
