09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

He is def the key to Moore's recruitment. He will be the reason we land him if we do.

BH has been saying that TN would take all three. He posted tonight, after the Lanier commit, that he believes Dooley would still take both Moore and Orta.

Personally, I don't see how the numbers work out if that were to happen, but that's probably my ignorance more than anything else.

If those guys wanted to come to UT, we could make room. Just have to drop some guys.

Lanier is a good pick-up, we would take Moore, not sure about taking all three though, not with guys like Wright, Lane, Richardson, Clear still out there amongst others.

I see Moore. I don't know if Orta is good enough to make room for.

This dude is a Cane, and I think our coaches already know it. Maybe that is why they took Lanier all of a sudden?

Could be more indicative of Loften not making it in. Hubbs alluded to this tonight. Said that Loften may be the odd man out simply bc he could not get his crap together.

Oh well he's a good talent but he needs juco or something. I'll take Moore and Lanier then go home. Loften obviously didn't want to be here bad enough or he would have studied a little more.

Lanier is considered an athlete. Maybe he can play CB and Moore can play safety. IDK just saying. Why not take both?

us taking Lanier has nothing to do with Moore.

we want and Need BOTH.

Truth. With Loften looking less and less likely to make it in now Moore becomes a priority. As much as I like Randolph and Martin as prospects I believe Moore to be the most ready to play and come in and get immediate PT. Also watch out for Pat Martin's grades. Could be something to keep an eye on during the next few weeks.

I think Martin just needs a test score, I assume that what you are referring to. Definitely something to keep an eye on though.

Yes that was what I was referring to. I'm assuming you read the article on VQ the other night? Where the article just randomly ended with "Martin will be retaking the ACT next weekend". Thought that was very strange way to end off the article. Probably a non issue, but I'll keep my eye on it for sure.

I disagree with Brent on this one. I think Orta has always been a back up plan, and if we now get Moore (I'm starting to feel better about him) I think we shut it down for DB -- both Orta and Loften are out unless we lose someone else we now expect to get.

BTW -- Moore is definitely a take, no matter what.

well if Loften makes it in he does not count against this class, right! he counts as last yrs and if moore commits orta dont have a shot.

Agreed. IMO we shouldn't take Orta unless we miss on Moore. Moore is a way better prospect and is already college ready and would be able to come in and competet immediately. Taking both would put us in to tight of a number crunch. We got a good haul this class at safety if we get Moore we would have him, Martin, and Randolph. I see no reason to take Orta as well which would put us at 4 Safeties in one class. During this much of a number crunch I don't believe it would be wise to take 4 safeties out of a 25 player class.

If the staff wants 4 safeties, then that's what I want. Maybe they saw a secondary this year play against Julio Jones, AJ Green, Alshon Jeffery and who allowed UNC to drive the field in 20 seconds. Not to mention that gave up over 400 yards passing to UAB.
