09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

Projecting the starting lineup at this point is a bit silly. Basically it would mean this: We'd have a stable of absolute studs in the secondary. Like, two deep studs. It'd be sweet.

I agree. I just wonder how well Moore picks up the system. Jackson would be a lot better at CB.

I think I read somewhere that Hubbs said that the staff's ideal plans were to move JJ to CB if they could. I think us landing Moore would definitely give us the flexibility in the secondary to do that.

Moore and Brewer at the Safetys.
Janzen and Teague/Waggoner at Corners.

Any thoughts on Teague?

I want him on the field, but not sure if he moves back to the offense?

I think he is a team player and will do whatever, but I wonder where he wants to be.

I think he is going to make a fine CB. I think he stays on D. You can never have too many good DB's.

Teague and his family are awesome!! I sat next to his parents and brother during a game last year and they are all vol, loved everything about UT and were great people. :hi: :loco:

So, is Moore a Vol or a Cane? I'm at work and confused as all get out right now! No time to research around to find out why you all are acting like we might have Moore as well as Lane. Can someone summarize quickly for me, if it's not too difficult?

With all of the DB's we are signing, especially if we get Moore, how does this affect things like Ted Meline moving back to offense, Pat Martin moving to LB, and Tino Thomas looking elsewhere?

Teague is going to be a DB from here on out. The coaching staff loves him there.

I agree that he will, but I can see people's arguement of switching him back to offense. The secondary isn't near the problem it once was. With the addittion of Moore we could have Moore and Brewer at the safety spots and Waggoner and Gordon/Lanier at the corner spots.

On the offensive side of the ball it is a different story. Our WR core looks great on paper, but in all reality only one of our WRs on the roster has proved anything on the field. We will be very young with 2 true sophomores starting and 2 true freshmen looking to get PT. Now I love the potential and the big play threat of Hunter, Rogers, Arnett, Dallas, Rogers, etc., but none have the experience, blocking ability, or route running of our seniors we lost last year (Moore, Jones, Stocker).

It won't happen, but maybe if they did move Teague back to WR he could take over the slot and replace G. Jones as having the 3rd down WR role on the team.

According to my spreadsheet...when Lane is figured into our score (which hasn't happened on their site yet) we will have 1498 points...which puts us ahead of both Cal and Nebraska (barely)....

Moore will likely put us in the upper 1500's which would leap frog us over Texas Tech and maybe UNC

1493 it is...just behind Nebraska...

Meline was moving before all this activity. PM will have to grow before we start talking LB. Tino Thomas would likely have to wait a few years to see the field, I think if he left it would be due to the crowded incoming roster and not us aking him to leave.

Dad told Wilcox he was a Vol according to Skeeter who, most would say, is the best connected poster here. Others reporting he will announce for Tennessee on Wednesday. That being said, Miami's message board believes he will commit to them, based on earlier comments by same father.

The same can be said for the secondary. Based on this recruiting class we are going to look good in the secondary on paper, but none of these guys have played a down at DB for us. Teague has, and has grown into the role nicely. I see no reason he would be moved back to offense, especially considering how much work it probably was to move him to defense last year. That'd be pretty unfair to him.

Curious why you feel this way. I've never lived there but visited several times and kinda liked the area.

I was being serious. "Worst place" may be an exaggeration but I lived in WPB, Deerfield Beach, Ft Lauderdale and Boca Raton (as well as Orlando and currently Tampa) and was married on top of the Mayfair House in Coconut Grove. I couldn't wait to get out. It's great for a vacation but the people (majority that I ran across) are self centered, rude, condescending...I could go on...

In Miami, you're a foreigner if you don't speak Spanish. Anywhere else and you're a foreigner if you're not from "up north". People drive like crap and then give you the finger. Sense of community is hard to come by as so few people are "natives". Crime can be an issue as well.

Again, fine for vacations but it's not somewhere I would want to live (again) or raise a family.
