09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

Not more than one player away. Did you really expect a secondary with a guy who switched from WR to DB a month before season, and a redshirt freshman in Gordon along with Evans to be good at beginning of season? Teague and Gordon are very good yet were very inexperienced this year. Give them another year in weight room and another year of coaching and them two become very good as they have show glimpses of. Add that with Prentiss Waggner who shut down Alshon Jeffrey outside of one pass, and you have 3 very good SEC DBs. Then add Moore with that and you have 4 very good SEC DBs with very good safeties behind them. People just want to ignore that vast improvements are going to be for young players.

Waggner is not the answer. He plays hard and gives his all but that's about it. We can't keep running a CB out there that is only good at picking passes off in Cover 2. If the route is a vertical route with no safety help we're in trouble. Teague will be a good player for us. I'm still on the edge about Gordon he's got to work on a few fundamental things. Moore will start from the get go at CB since Brewer is playing a lot better at safety. He and Janzen may be the hardest hitting pair of safeties in all of college football next season. I still think Coleman will be a guy to watch for us this spring.

Teague will be good, Gordon will be good. They will be better next year but still not shutdown corners, imo.

Don't forget Naz. He will do some thangs. We have the most depth and cornerback by far and a whole lot of talent too. Just got to delevop it.

I see Teague making a lot of big plays for us next season. Gordon is someone I'll take a true wait and see approach.

oliver, loften, martin, randolph, and coleman wont hurt either...

I wouldn't expect to much out of Coleman as a freshman, Randolph could make and impact and if Loften gets in I'd expect him to make somewhat of an impact. However you can never rely on a freshman db in the SEC. And I'm not going to have high expectations for Oliver or Martin, you never know how they will come back from their injuries, they could come back and play great or it could hurt their game never know.

yes we are.

Dont be fooled by what some poor passing teams werent able to accomplish vs us in the last 5 games.

Bama, USC, UF even UAB Lit us up thru the air.

we are definitely more than one player away. we have no experienced depth at CB. Prewaggs had some nice moments but he is very replaceable. emphasis on very.

Dont be fooled if you dont get any pressure on the qb 4 ronnies lotts will lose coverage at some point.

true, but id love some depth and the makings of a rotation. it will also help our d a great deal if our o can stay on the field for more than 3 plays at a time

Exactly, they seemed to have pretty descent coverage but could always be better of course, they seemed to get to the ball very quick, its the poor tackling that got to me. They just through their bodies at people, they need to make more sure tackles.

Yeah depth will be nice to have. And don't forget Tino Thomas, he may be one of the db's thats physically ready to play some next year, if he is needed.

Byron Moore updated on jcfootball that he is down to 3 and eliminated an sec school.

Not sure who it is as its a paysite.

I hope not us.

Edit....down to us, Miami, and Oregon St.

I'm changing my stance on Moore, it's a Tennessee/Miami battle. IMO Moore will be a Vol on NSD.
