The middle ground would be that only about half to 2/3rds of those numbers count then. They still stink or should be better but name any coach, any, and none of them could have done jack with the crap left here for Butch's first year or two. Any criticism of last year and this year are legitimate on records and losses to Florida. We were begging people to coach here at that time. Dumpster fire of epic proportions.

That is the middle ground and the reasonable fan. Each of you guys is on the other end of the spectrum and polarized.

Most reasonable fans are wait and see on this upcoming 4 game stretch with concerns about what they have seen so far and don't care about a couple years ago right now. Most of us will be on the no longer waiting and don't want to see this anymore if we lose to Florida and do less than 2-2 in the next 4 games though

That is a great presser! I am looking forward to this Saturday! It will be a very tough fought game! I expect our Vols to come out with tenacity and strength!

I had my "melt down" during the game Saturday, you might recall the thread..."Worst 2-0 Team in the nation"

I have had time to breathe a little, while still not overly impressed 3 games in, a win Saturday is a win, good, bad or ugly....you can recoup a lot of good vibes with a win. Lose and your pants will begin to feel warmth. I support this team. The kids play hard which is a heck of a lot more than we could say a few years back. Talent and attitude have both come a long way under Butch...scheme may not always utilize that,,,but thats why Butch has a headset and a 7 figure check....let him figure it out and if not lets see where we go as a team. #GBO

3-13 vs ranked teams here at Tennessee. We just need to see proof he can win and do better than that.

This is basically a three-game season, as far as I can tell, starting now. The florida, georgia and texas a&m games will swing our season one way or the other. What the Vols have done in the first three games might be an indicator of future performance--or not. At this moment, the first three games don't have much relevance. I'd like to include bama in this and say we've got a four-game season, but I don't see us beating bama--not with our injuries on defense and our offensive issues. We should win all of our late-season games--doesn't mean we will, but we should. Needless to say, a win over florida would be massive. I'm pretty sure I say that every year.

This team has yet to play at the level of last year's team.... and it is mostly the same players.

I know a lot of you are going to think I am an idiot for asking this but if we beat Florida on Saturday and lose the next 3, is that a success? I only ask because of the weight that would be lifted off our shoulders moving forward. We would be 4-3 at that moment going into the softer part of our schedule with a win vs. the Gators and the streak over... Thoughts?

No. But the pattern that Versace pointed to is starting to be a concern. There's always a reason or excuse or diversion or whatever to either justify or excuse some real or perceived shortcoming.

No. But I would take it over losing to both UF and Bama with W's against TAM and UGA. UT and Jones need to get over this hump once and for all.
