Damn, botched the crap out of it...Yeah its UT Vs. UF...Been a long day on the ol job

we all have em.

I saw that though and wondered why 06 UF LSU would be on as a college classic game...that was the game LSU fumbled away on the goal line...and the opening kickoff of the half into the endzone......and then got safetied...and then threw three picks :birgits_giggle:

wow, boy no wonder.

That UF game was a long day for LSU too lol. :)

But yeah, that 06 team was the last good team UT had. Unfortunately, it got bitten hard by the injury bug on both offense and defense that season.

Yep, IMO if Ainge is helathly, even as decent as Crompton played against LSU we win that game and maybe get into the Sugar Bowl

If we hadn't forgotten how to tackle late in the 3rd quarter we would have beaten Florida and would be talking about a different season.

And what's bothersome, watch the 1st down on the last drive - the intentional grounding play. Whoever was playing center - it was right before mcneil, maybe frogg? - doesn't pick up anyone. The two DTs near him go around him (luckily the guards pick them up) and he just stands there. The LB who gets Ainge (who has to throw it away once he gets there) runs right by him!! the center instead just stands there, blocking nobody, and then turns right not only letting the blitzing LB through, but he instead goes to cover the LB who is in zone coverage. Ugh, it was an awful play by that center that, well you could argue it cost us that game on that last drive since we were moving.

the center got pulled by the coaches and mcneil started the next game

It wasn't just ainge. Our starting RB was Coker and he got hurt against Bama and our running game went back to crap.

Then on defense, harrell got hurt (i think a DE did too maybe?). And then, then-starter inky johnson got his career ending injury and chavis had to reshuffle all the defensive backs around, including moving the starting SS Antwan Stewart to CB and Morley (the back-up who hadn't played too much yet if i recall) to starting SS.

That was the first game with that new, moved around defensive backfield, and it showed - Leak found alot of guys kinda deep with noone around them in the second half of the game...

It was 1st and 5 after a penalty. We had four plays to gain five yards, and then we're running out the clock and kicking a FG.

What pissed me off about that game was they got 2 TD's off the same play....If it worked once and they were able to set it off, did Chavis not think that they were going to go back to the same play and try to score again?

Making in-game adjustments wasn't one of Chief's greatest strengths.

That entire coaching staff didn't know how to make adjustments in the game...See the UCLA game of 2008 for that....I'm pretty sure if I'm going to play 15 yards off the WRs and they get a couple first downs on me, I'm going to get in their face but apparently he thought 15 yards off was "in their face"

FWIW, Chavis wasn't the only one that couldn't make an in game adjustment to win the game...Clawson making Crompton throw the ball 40 times when we were running the ball down their throat all game made him look like a straight up fool as well

That game had a lot of big moments. The Leak INT that would have been a TD if not for the roughing the passer penalty... Brandon James took a punt back for a TD but it got called back. The trick play... Tim Tebow's 4th down run...

But the key was that Tennessee couldn't run the ball AT ALL. -11 rushing yards for the game on 23 carries. Tennessee just hasn't been the same on the offensive and defensive line for many many years now...

Part of that was that whole defensive backfield reshuffle. If you move people around like that, they're going to have a hard time adjusting to the new position that first game, and that first game they'll end up getting completely lost on plays.

Just shuffling players around between CB & S positions before a really big game was honestly a very bad idea.
