“But I got to stop wishin', got to go fishin' Down to rock bottom again Just a few friends, just a few friends” (pictures)

Spent a couple of weeks in Wyoming chasing cutthroats with a couple of good friends. We've been doing this trip together for 26 years and I hope to be able to do it for another 20 years.

I'll post a few photos.

A few decades ago, my brother was living in Wyoming. His wife’s boss had this guided luxury camping and fishing trip with an expert familiar with the streams and rivers to teach fly fishing. The boss couldn’t go and gave it to her. She and my brother had a crew setting up camp, cooking, and everything else while they learned how the fly fish in prime cutthroat territory. They rode in on horses. Gear was ported by pack mules.

Nice fly.
You tie that?
No. I used to tie most of my flies, but no more. I buy those Parachute Adams for about .50 each and they are much better flies than I can tie and I use far more of them than any other fly. I have finally set up (partially) my tying desk after we moved, so this winter I'll probably tie more than I have been.

How's the kayak fishing going? Looks like its been too hot to go out much????

Went last weekend and lost 3 I had on. Finally landed a tiny bass. Started to go this morning but thunder kept me inside.
Got the John boat back from having trolling motor and seat mounts added. So a week from today (my 56 birthday) will be its first trip out

Sounds great!

And a early Happy Birthday, Slice, you young whippersnapper! I remember 56, but just barely.

The year that I turned 56, I was 20 lbs lighter, jumping out of airplanes, riding bicycles when the weather wasn’t good for skydiving, working at a job that I enjoyed, traveling a bunch, and generally living the life of an alpha male. Yes, I caught fish, too.

Went down to Orlando this weekend to help a friend move into her new place. She only brought one fishing pole with her and the only gear she had was saltwater stuff so we went to a local West Marine tackle store and they barely had anything in stock, and even more stupid was that of the things they did have, it was mostly saltwater stuff. A hundred miles from the beach. Very silly. So we didn't end up getting much there, but got enough to rig up something for bream (minus the cork- we had to Jerry rig an actual wine bottle cork to use as the float) and went to the closest lake. Caught a bunch of little joevol type Bluegill, her using the rod and me handlining using another wine cork rig I made.

Oh, and our bait bread was from a single sub roll from subway they charged me 1.75 for.

Did you intentionally lose a hook so you had to open another bottle of wine for the cork?

I'm thinking about actually going bream fishing later😆

Been craving, not to eat, snall mouth bass. There's a couple of lakes north of me that allegedly have them. May drive up one day soon to one, and just drive around and bank fish to try it and see what happens.
