‘25 Recruiting Forum: Official Syracuse vs Tennessee Pre-game/Game Thread

i think people are overreacting a bit. syracuse has a good offense. lets hope some if this with DL is preventative.
Syracuse has a totally rebuilt offense...and their totally rebuilt OL is a bunch of nobodies...this was a bad showing.

They do have a good OC, he was smart enough to pick at weak spots.

UEM, dude. How many new starters do we have on O?
I wish you guys would quit acting like I'm in fire everybody mode...I just believe our defense should have destroyed this team, but we did not and it bothers me, heck we couldn't even hold them to field goals and that is a problem...in my opinion.

Maybe Syracuse turns out to be a great offense and it isn't as bad as it looks.

I hope we get better...that is all.

They gave us a bit of our own medicine with the hurry up offense.
Our D was really gassed at times.

Would it make sense to wait to see before weirding out, when we beat a P4 team by nearly 20 points, in a game that was never in doubt, as our coach cycled freshmen and walk-ons in to get reps?

I read about a study this week. One would think that as life gets better/easier, anxiety would be lowered. But that's not what they found. They found that as life gets easier, many people just lower the "problem" bar. They get anxious and worry about smaller and smaller things as the things to worry about decrease. The level on anxiety never changes even though there's less to actually be anxious about.

Seems like a sad, sad way to live.

We've come so far in a few years. One would hope we could learn to enjoy it.

There must be a lot of tough dudes on here. I'm not sure I would want to live the high-strung, anger-and-anxiety life many exhibit on here.

Yeah but when you combine the facts of
-Our best DT and our #2 lockdown corner going down early in the first half
-the best cornerback in the nation and our #3 DT not being available
-Our replacement DT who was playing out of his mind getting injured in the second quarter
-playing multiple freshman and redshirt freshman all over the field to get them experience while we're up 3 touchdowns (some of whom made huge plays: Harmon, Redmond)
-Our offense having our way with their defense thus leaving little time for our defense to recover
-Syracuse's offense leading the nation is passing yards per game last year...

It's hard to be upset with the defense's performance when they:
-Held Syracuse to 103 rushing yards
-Had 5 sacks from 5 different players
-Had 2 forced turnovers, one being a scoop and score
-stopped both of Syracuse's two point attempts
-stopped them on 4th and goal with 2 minutes left.
-we never really looked like we were losing.
You're watching an extremely talented, young team grow up while the upperclassmen heal. Their bodies need to grow too. We're gonna see more of their talents showcased next week and we'll likely get a lot of our leaders back soon. Just enjoy it buddy

Our defense really needs to do better than this...I know without the conversions they wouldn't have scored much, but we still had the chance to keep them out of the EZ on all of those drives and hold them to FGs, but they punched it in down below the 10 four freaking times...that is not good stout defense.
It’s really overrated or to damn much subbing when you need your best in the game

Once the logical thinkers sober up they will realize how much sense all of that makes. The ones who are already sober could care less about how much sense that all makes. They are just super excited that they have something to "discuss" about how poorly somebody did today, coaches or players or both. They don't sleep well at night unless they are dreaming about who they are going to fahr!

All good points...I concur with all those points...

It's just that the way the defense looked...uhmm...extremely soft...a lot of the time today was really unexpected to me. I thought we were past that.

But as you rightly pointed out, we had to (or in any case we did, whether we HAD to or not) go really deep on the depth chart today and that was the most likely culprit along with Boo screwing up badly several times on 3rd or 4th down...and speaking of Boo it is obvious that everything that has happened has either..

#1...Really caused him to regress..or..
#2...He isn't even trying out of pure dontgivasheitness or spite.

I think it is probably and most likely #1...but if there is any evidence that it is #2...then either kick his ass off the team...OR...make him sit his ass all season all the way at the end of the bench and leave him off the travel squad since in the case of #2 getting kicked off is probably what he wants. If he causes problems, suspend him, but don't release him...just keep him away from the team.

Having said all that...I really don't think it is #2, he would be really reallllyyy stupid to do that. I really think he is so distracted and discombobulated that he is way behind where he should be.

But it wouldn't just totally shock me for #2 to be the case.
