He took a team depleted of talent, that had lost to Wyoming under the great leadership of Phil Fulmer, using two walk on offensive linemen and a quarterback that couldn’t complete a 5 yard pass and scared the crap out of Alabama.

All anyone remembers about that Bama game is the blocked 50 yard FG.

We had a chance because earlier in the game Saban forced 3 passes to Julio Jones from the 3 yard line and settled for a FG instead of just pounding it in with Ingram for a TD.

Then it took a late Eric Berry forced fumble to get us in position to score THEN we had to recover an onside kick. THEN Lane let the clock run down instead of attempting to get it a little closer for an easier FG attempt.

Lane in no way out coached Saban.

Gotta love the moral victories over UF and Bama that the Kiffin fanboys trot out. What about the horrible, embarrassing loss to 7-6 UCLA at home? How about the ugly loss at home to first year Gene Chizik. Yes, that Gene Chizik. And the humiliating loss to Ole Piss. And then the crushing loss to Virginia Tech. The team that even Botch stomped. Even UK took us to overtime that year.

EXACTLY!!!

Not to mention the FL game he played to not get blown out instead of trying to win. That was the start of the Moral Victory U jokes.

Thanks Lane!

Lane burnt that bridge to the ground in 2009

It should be a lesson to some of you in the real world when you leave a job. Do it with grace and dignity and if you ever need to come back, you will be welcomed back. Do it like Lane, and they might throw some change to you while you lay on the sidewalk, dirty and smelling of piss

Lane got a call it was SC AD they offered him his dream job he wanted to meet the team and press and leave right and thank the media but chit got crazy.

Mullen said he was preparing for a bowl and the next minute he is on a plane to Florida didn't meet didn't say by said go gators.

No different coaching is a business and right now is not a time for the Vols to be picky unless some power 5 coach wants to make millions to come here witch call me crazy but I don't think they are because now they are not sure about are AD's tenure Then we have a nice option in Kiffin that can win games and coach.
