‘18 QB Grad Transfer Keller Chryst (UT commit 3/1/18)

Manziel was a Redshirt Freshman. Guarantee you Pruitt would trade all of our QB's for Fromm in an instant.

If they can’t get Fromm level production from the QBs we may be in trouble. There wasn’t much that he did to be a difference maker. Michel, Swift and Chubb were gashing people.

Meh. Quite a few say those things about the entire team. I haven’t seen many around here say JG sucks, I only read the recruiting forum. And the ones who do are likely on ignore. The majority of us just want to win and don’t care who starts. May the best man win.

There are people saying he’s a terrible QB. Anybody remember how bad Drew Locke was at Missouri starting out?

Yes, there are a few saying those things. Just as there is a few (hhh-hmmm, clears throat) that over critique or even bash every single UT qb not named JG.

No different than any other qb competition we've ever had. Most want the best qb to win the job. The minority apparently just want their guy handed the job and the competition to go away ashamed and battered for having the nerve to try. That goes for both sides.

I learn from the master, and that's a compliment.

But, it's not.

Who’s this master who employs this device which basically states “if you were as smart as me you’d agree with me”? You’ve become quite adept at it. Counted three so far this thread. And before you trot out the “I’m rubber you’re glue” method, that’s bolsch! I don’t brag on myself...little reason. :)

That’s a good point and will be interesting to see. Kirby seems like the coach who demands to run the call but losing Sony and Chubb and some OL are huge.

They won’t take any step backs this year according to some here and UGA fans. They can magically replace their greatest duo ALL TIME at the rb position and not miss a beat. There are two better rb’s waiting as we speak......

Have to make do with 5 star spares. :dunno:

Fromm completed 10 or less passes in 7 games last year lol. He wasn’t asked to do anything. It’s not hard.

Also not easy...despite your dismissal. Fromm was a huge reason for their season...just facts.

Is transitive properties the conversation we’re having? Original point...was Fromm bordering special last season?

It helps to have those running backs and line. Didn’t say he sucked and was a non prospect BUT it would’ve appeared so if he had played in UT’s O last year.

Thank you! Our fans act like JG is horrid. Kid didn’t even turn the ball over while getting destroyed in the pocket. WRs weren’t getting open and playcalls were horrid along with shoddy O-line play.

This is what I saw and I was live at almost every game.

They didn't ask him to do much for most of the season. But by the end of the season he'd come a long way.

IDK how I feel about Fromm. He had one of the best season's a true freshman QB has ever had in the SEC, but he was also in as good of a position as an inexperienced QB can hope for. They didn't ask much of him at all, but he showed he had some of the intangibles you want from a QB when it comes to keeping cool and being clutch.

I'm interested to see how he comes along in 2018. Hopefully not very well :)

Point being he did everything NEEDED to win. I don’t dismiss him because their running game was epic. Not every QB wins as much...Eason didn’t.

Point is not that he’s bad but he didn’t have to be great. He would’ve looked like **** if he was playing at UT for Butch last year like most others would have as well with the situation we had.

But in GEORGIA’S, he played well enough for them to win a SEC Championship and play in the NC game. And I ain’t buying that a QB couldn’t mess that up. There were vital times in the regular season and the playoffs where he was the deciding factor.

I didn’t bash McBride. I didn’t like Dormady for a reason. He looks like a pick 6 at QB every time I see him under pressure.

You don’t KNOW that. You generally assume. With the FACTS as they are, he was a SEC Championship winning QB who led his offense to a huge lead in the NC game. “Others” DID NOT.

They definitely don't get to the title game with Eason. Not because of Fromm, but because Chaney was forced to rely on the run game and not get all pass happy like he always has been. Fromm was a game manager, but I could see him being very good down the road. I could also see Chaney going back to his old ways and putting the game on his back and Fromm having a terrible sophomore year.

Wrote what I was thinking.

I’m saying this “needing” thing is a futile point. The quarterback brings it all together. And we’ve seen equally talented squads with lost seasons because of their quarterbacks. Kid did everything and MORE to get them to the NC game. Did everything and MORE to win it. Fell short. And thanks for using the douchey “not that difficult” qualifier instead of disagreeing honestly. :hi:

Do you think he thrives on our team last year like he did with Georgia? No freaking way. He’s a really good QB but he didn’t have to be great.

I want competition and the best man wins. It won’t be Fromm as our QB next year. I guarantee it.

I think he performs better. Most important component of a QB is their processing mind and composure. Of course they need to be able to make all the throws but the mindset is what separates the greats. I still think JG gets unnecessary flak for outside perception of his makeup, but I feel Fromm beats, Florida,SC,Kentucky AND Vandy with last season’s talent and damn good chances against Mizzou and LSU.

During the playoffs yes. Agree he played well enough. What I am saying is he had a bunch more help than most. Mansiel totally lifted his team above what they would’ve been. Georgia as a team helped lift Fromm

I saw our OL last year and the scheme to say yes I know that. Even at UT game in the first half, Fromm looked like a true freshman with us getting pressure on him. It was their D and the RB’s who buried us not Fromm.

If you think any college QB would’ve looked good at UT last year in that O with that line and those receivers then I have no words.
