We've seen the report. Nothing is confirmed right now. From what Chryst told AP last Sunday and the fact that Gardner Minshew committed to Alabama, it's clear that it's been trending in this direction in the last 24 hours.
Neither Chryst or his family are talking tonight though. Tennessee folks are saying nothing is done yet either. Still, it seems clear right now it's when not if Chryst will announce his decision to play at Tennessee in 2018.
Just wanted to let y'all know the latest from our end.
It's better in the long run if he wins the starting job. Give the other QBs time to learn the systemYeah. You'd think that someone had done enough to lock down the position. McBride doesn't have the innate talent. JG struggled to learn the last system and now has to learn a new one that requires him to read D's and make real audibles.
Chances are very good that Chryst will start this fall.
After spending last weekend in Knoxville on an official visit, Stanford quarterback Keller Chryst will play his final year of college football on Rocky Top. Chryst made the announcement via Twitter Thursday night. Following his visit to Knoxville, Chryst said he was impressed with the mentality of the program.
"I learned that they are a no nonsense type of program that knows what it takes to win games, as the coaching staffs resume speaks for itself," Chryst said. "I really like the people involved in the program outside of the coaches as well."
For Chryst going through the recruiting process for a second time and as a graduate transfer, the things you focus on is different. "Looking at schools as a grad is different because you really have to prioritize what is important," Chryst said. "Coaching staff and scheme, as well as the guys on team and the motivation they have to win."
Chryst is looking for a new home based off Stanford going in a different direction with their signal-caller. He started 13 games over the last two seasons and completed 55.4 percent of his passes for 1,926 yards and 19 touchdowns to just six interceptions.
Chryst will arrive this summer and be ready to compete with returning lettermen Jarrett Guarantano and Will McBride along true freshman JT Shrout, who will arrive this summer.
JG still has a lot of potential, but he needed some competition.
Chryst might not be the 2nd coming of Peyton Manning, but hes a big QB with P5 starting experience.
Bottom line is if we have any aspirations of 19 being a foundation class (top 5 ranking with a lot of blue chip talent) then UT needs to win games this year, and look competent/competitive in games we dont win. Kids need to see progress to go along with our facilities and our coaching staff.
If Pruitt and co. think KC helps Im all for it.
