I’m sure this has been said before…IMO Aguilar raises the floor for the QB room, but doesn’t significantly raise the ceiling.
If Merk or GMac beat him out that’s great because they’ll have proved themselves against an experienced player, but if they don’t then he’s at least a quality starter in...
This team is talented, but lacks any semblance of being clutch and stepping up in the big moment. That’s the biggest difference between this year and previous years….no Moore, Gilbert, etc. to make a play when they’ve gotta have it.
The highlights they keep showing are of him at DB against an awful UCLA team and at WR against Colorado State…he’s talented, but I don’t think he’s talented enough to play at a high level both ways.
And what’s he going to do when the coaches tell him to pick a side of the ball??
IMO on a scale of 1-10, 10 being Heisman caliber, I think Aguilar is a 6.5-7 with the potential for 8-8.5. This is good enough for 8-9 wins, again IMO, with this defense and Heupel’s knack for always having a successful run game.
If he plays really well or Merk/GMac surpass him then I think...
Hendon showed us that you don’t have to throw it over a mountain to be successful…above average arm strength with accuracy and quick decisions is what is needed to succeed in this offense IMO
Grammar aside….Shannon Terry, the founder of On3, played basketball at Lipscomb University.
And you don’t typically build multiple college sport-centric businesses by being biased toward one.
If Nico had waited, quietly made a demand for more money and when it was rejected THEN enter the portal this situation would’ve been totally different.
They made an ill-timed bet, Tennessee called their bluff and the the rest is history.
All they had to do was wait like 72 hours!
On the most recent VQ podcast they were talking about positions to add players in the portal and they mentioned WR and DL, but when asked about DB specifically Austin Price surprisingly said “no”.
If he thought Boo was leaving he wouldn’t have said that IMO…
The risk you run of bringing in a top flight QB1 is that Merk or GMac might say “see you later” and you definitely don’t want that, especially if that player has more than 1 year of eligibility. Also, guaranteed starter when you walk in the door has not been Heupel’s SOP, so I don’t think that’s...
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if the university “taking a stand” doesn’t inspire some people to dig a bit deeper knowing their money isn’t being thrown around frivolously.
I think one thing we learned from Hooker is that you don’t have to have elite arm talent, but make the correct read quickly and be accurate.
Milton and Nico had the first thing, but severely lacked the other two IMO
Heupel can get people open and this team needs a QB who can hit them when they...
