Yes that was my vote as it was for a number of others on this site, and in one of my first posts I strongly advocated for a return to something akin to the rivalry that existed between TN & UConn during Pat’s Hay Day, if that’s even possible. I also suggested that UConn’s current system has a...
Yes that was my vote as it was for a number of others on this site, and in one of my first posts I strongly advocated for a return to something akin to the rivalry that existed between TN & UConn during Pat’s Hay Day. That shouldn’t be controversial here.
Beyond that, by suggesting that I was...
I can’t speak for the moderators on the BY. I have always welcomed posters from other schools, and I think there’s quite a few who post regularly on the BY. I’m sorry if you have experienced anything less than good natured disagreement on the BY.
By echo chamber if you mean that the Boneyard is home to many partisan UConn fans, you’re absolutely correct. It’s no different than VolNation’s base of partisan TN fans or McGraw’s Bench’s base of partisan ND fans.
Actually UConn’s conference scoring is relatively close to its non-conference scoring, owing to the fact that they usually empty the bench by the start of the 4th qtr. Having said that I seem to recall a non-conference game back around Feb 1 where UConn put up 96 pts against someone.
You are absolutely correct that Geno’s motion offense is how UConn initially was able to compete with Pat and TN, and they continue to run that offense as well as anyone. On the other hand, it’s not that Geno currently bases his entire offense on forcing turnovers and scoring in transition...
At the most basic level, TN & UConn both want up tempo transition basketball and relative to their half court offense, they both run 5-out sets. As you point out, there is a difference between how they run their 5-out sets. TN seems more inclined to run isolation (1 on 1) plays in half court...
Well, as I indicated, the systems are already very similar. The one thing that Kim may consider is the “hockey line” substitutions. Currently UConn uses a 9 player rotation in big games. But Sarah Strong & Azzi Fudd play big minutes in big games.
Maybe Kim needs to decide who her star...
Granted. But my initial post was intended to present a defense of Kim’s system by merely stating that Geno thought so much of that system that after UConn’s loss in Knoxville last season, he basically adopted that system as his own.

UConn’s conference schedule is what it is. But the Huskies had the toughest OOC schedule in the country.
But what the hell? There’s no better comparison than head to head. In the TN-UConn game the Huskies forced 5 more turnovers than TN, a decided turnaround from the previous season. They...
