Oh yeah, I was probably referring to them putting the right people in front office positions more so than anything. Makes sense to me to hire those spots based on past success and then sit back and let them cook. The sitting back part can be hard for some folks though.
Guys like Haslam, the Adamses, and Jerry Jones are way smarter than me and have a whole lot more money to show for it. But at some point you’ve got to be humble enough and self-aware enough to put who you think are the right people in place at the top, then get the hell out of their way.

The era you’re talking about has been gone. I like the current era better than the last one where the same 5 teams that figured out the best way to pay under the table took turns winning it all.
Seems worse to me to look at it that way. Struck out at the top of the QB list and ended up falling outside the top 100. Looks like we could have had better, more realistic contingencies.
Yeah I think you got to kick the tires on Ty, but putting any eggs in that basket with the way this years draft is set up would not have been a good idea.
Hope so. Ty Simpson is only one out there I thought might be worth throwing more than $4 million at. I was more in favor spreading the money around to all the spots and bringing in a very productive senior from FCS or D2 to compete with GMAC and Brandon.
The grade is not the point, and I hope GMAC is wildly successful.
We’re all obviously on the outside looking in, but sitting here with 2 guys in the entire QB room with 9 college passes between them sure seems risky to me.

I want to believe. But we’ve got 2 QB’s that have thrown about 9 passes in a college football game between them, and the best we can do is bring in the 3rd string QB from Colorado. Nobody is giving that that portal effort an A+ no matter how you spin it.
I hope GMAC balls out, but the fact that Merklinger never looked better than mediocre at any point, yet still got all the snaps over him makes the whole deal look shaky to me.
I think Plan A was one of Leavitt, Ty Simpson, or Aguilar. All extremely long shots. The fact that they kicked the...
