Not necessarily sticking up for Hamilton here but what are the "sports that matter"? Is he including women's sports? I'd like to see these numbers fleshed out a bit. Got to remember that UT is one of only 3 or 4 schools in the country that have separate AD's for men's and women's sports...

Dooley wants to know who is showing up to practice. Asks that former players just call first and say they are coming. Pretty fired up about it. Doesn't understand why former players are so upset. Miming someone calling and saying "I want to come to practice." "What's so hard about that?"...

"Had a great meeting with Eric Berry." EB: "I made the most of what I had." DD: "Great players are resilient." Guys should bust tails for whoever is coaching.

Dooley's style is to talk when something is going on. There's been nothing going on, so he wasn't talking. He will talk now and during spring practice but won't talk over the summer. "What am I going to talk about? Guys working out?"

"Everything I'm going to do is for the players. Whether we succeed or fail is up to them."

Practices will be physical. If practices aren't physical, no one is hurt but your team isn't tough. Lot of hitting but trying to stay on your feet. Not always being taken to the ground.

Position changes: A. Johnson to LB. Rod Wilks back to Safety.

"Ultimately, we gotta win."

Not out speaking any because he is trying to implement these things.

Talking academics and character education now. Wants players to know consequences of signing up for credit cards, signing an apartment lease, etc. "Player enhancement" is something he keeps saying.

Short term concerns - thin and inexperience at a lot of areas.

Toughness, Effort, and Spirit are the values he wants his team to have. Trying to structure program to reinforce those values. Easier said than done.
