Pat was relentless in her coaching style. My impression is that you either took her instruction and did it her way, or you didn't see the court much. Not sure how that would work today.

I don't like the idea of retiring numbers for anyone. If basketball is played for enough years, eventually there will be no numbers left. Hang their jersey in the rafters. But continue to use all numbers.

It will sort itself out. Give it 2-3 years. The imbalances will find resistance limits. Any static system will take time to find a new equilibrium when the forces in that system change drastically. I think it actually will have a tendency to balance out the talent across many more schools...
