    Curt Schilling On Tennessee

I wonder where all the “sportsmanship equals post-season” crowd were last year when State won the CWS. While their antics weren‘t as well catalogued as UT’s were this year, they were probably among the worst in 2021.

Inviting analysis: Why do so many #1 seeds exit early from CWS?

Speaking from a sample size of 1 (Arkansas last year), I think you feel that you have to contest every game during the season —- no matter how meaningless it is. Arkansas, for example, traditionally does not spend a lot of energy contesting SEC tournament games. Even in the years when they were...

College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Btw you were just arguing that Arkie’s 1994 championship and 1995 runner-up season are irrelevant today (which is accurate). But then you argue UT is better by using a model that starts back in 1997?

College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

You are definitely correct about the period up to 2019. But on the chart you posted, what season was Arkie’s best? 2021.

To be fair, they were in the Elite Eight ten months ago, which Tennessee has only accomplished once in its history. And most rankings put their recruiting class in the top 5 for next year. So UT was better from 2006-2019. Since then, I’m not so sure.

    Tennessee shockwaves through CB

I think a reasonable assessment is that UT currently is what their record says they are: A 7-5 team that went 6-1 against non-Top 25 teams and 1-4 against Top 25 ones. That makes them the a better version of Pruitt’s 2019 team with the two embarrassing early season losses replaced by close home...

    Mullen fired at Florida

My guesses as to where to Mullen ends up? If he really is interested in the NFL, I could see him ending up a “consultant” for one year. Obviously Jacksonville is a possibility. The other place would be New England. The Meyer-Belichick network isn’t as strong as the Saban-Belichick one but it...

    Mullen fired at Florida

Despite being a big fan of Heupel from the start, I think this assessment is correct. You compare his track record to Pittman, who I don’t think would be a big draw for outside offers from other Power 5 programs (even if he was willing to move). Pittman (over two years): 2-0 versus Leach, 1-1...

Top 4 team in SEC? 2022 East champs?

Didn’t Samford only lose to UF by 12 while UT lost to them by 24? So does that mean ETSU and UTC, who both beat Stamford, are better than us?

Top 4 team in SEC? 2022 East champs?

With the exception of UGA, the rest of the SEC East is 1-8 versus the SEC West. And Vanderbilt, Missouri and South Carolina are the SEC East teams with remaining interdivisional games.

Top 4 team in SEC? 2022 East champs?

What is the internet meme? “Tell me that you have no idea how to evaluate college football teams without telling me that you have no idea how to evaluate college football teams?”

SIAP Schiano was going to bring Burrow with him

Both Lombardi and Schiano are part of the Belichick network. Both were given jobs there when they were at career lowpoints so there is some loyalty there to others in that network.

    #11 Kentucky (6-0,4-0) @ #1 Georgia (6-0,4-0) 3:30 PM CBS

UT also won an AP in 1951. Like Georgia, they also claim a handful of other years also.

    Purdue @ #2 Iowa

While all of the writers ranked Georgia #1, one of the coaches ranked Iowa #1 in the latest coach’s poll. That is why the votes in that poll should be made public like the writers’ votes are. At least half of his next press conference should be spent justifying that vote.

    Arkansas and Barn (cbs)

You never know if you get good Bo (LSU game) or horrible Bo (GA State). Unfortunately for Arkansas, good Bo showed up.
