If it were Climer's call, Martin needs two wins to save job

I think it's possible that Martin takes another job.

I keep asking this question and no one answers it. Please explain to me why another program equal to or better then UT would offer Martin the job? What has he accomplished that would make even Purdue consider him?

:lolabove: Bruce will never coach at Tennessee again. He might be coach at Memphis, Auburn, or some other place. Get over it people. He had his chance at Tennessee and lied to the NCAA. J.Cheek is in charge and he will never hire Bruce back.

get over yourself lil ricky. you do not know that BP will never coach at UT again. so stop telling those who are holding onto the chance to get over it. when has cheek said this? link or are you just being your offensively self-satisfied person again?

:lolabove: Yeah Pearl will be our next coach. Just like Gruden will be our next football coach. Take off your orange colored glasses. You people are in for a let down if you think Pearl is coming back to Tennessee to be the basketball coach. :eek:lol:

Yes is would seem unlikely that we could keep Martin without a raise and more important an extension. He has to be able to go to recruits with the knowledge that he has three years on a contract to be effective. I am really interested how Hart will handle that as next year looks to be a difficult one for any coach that coaches at Tennessee.

Yea i mean if Martin is retained him and his agent will have all the leverage in the world. It would go like this, we all know whats going to happen if you fire me you are going to get 1000 calls a day about hiring CBP and we both know you dont want to go through that so heres the terms you are going to agree to. Thanks now let me coach basketball.

3-4 days ago, Climer wrote an article that suggested Riley Ferguson is a Heisman candidate.

He needs to encourage Martin to look for employment elsewhere, and if that doesn't get him to leave then just let him go, pay his buyout and move forward with a coach who can win at UT!

Most people wanted Dooley gone after 3 years too.[/QU

Actually the smart ones wanted him fired after the kent loss because it show his true coaching ability..

We all know what kind of coach ccm is. Its avg at best..just like fools some fought till the end.. On he needs more time.. Ccm is the same n if he loses a freaking play in game fire him..

Dude will never win a championship or even be close n that's a fact jack..

They think if they spew enough negative propaganda that people will accept it as fact.

I'm not taking a position on this either way, but it struck me as funny that only on volition would the POSITIVE propaganda be wanting to deny we made the tournament and fire our current coach lol

Well with DD you had not seen any progress in the team and recruiting getting worse...it's the opposite with CCM

I guess that's all on who you ask. I was no fan of Dooley but I'm making a comparison between him and Cuonzo based on each having 3 years and how us fans have reacted. Each coach has had their struggles and both have had their recruiting and game adjustments called in question. I think both sides have a legitimate argument on why he should or should not stay. I also believe 3 years is enough to form an opinion. Doesn't really matter whether we like everyone's opinion but if 3 years was enough for some to dislike Dooley then 3 years is enough for some to come to the same conclusion for Cuonzo. At the end of the day it's all about the Vols so GBO!

wow so fire a guy after 3 years on the job?? Makes total sense smh

How long would you give him? 5? 7? Three years is long enough to build your own roster of players you want. Especially in bball. That's enough time for UK to build 3 teams...

This may be the first time I agree with Climer. Early on in Martin's tenure, people were acting like the NCAAT was the bare minimum. Before this season, we were seen as a possible ranked team and a middle seed at worst. Now we sneak into a play-in game, and people are celebrating and saying I told you so.

I'm happy for Tennessee, but if we'd hired Kruger or Marshall, this team would be a legitimate contender. They'd certainly be better than Oklahoma, who is a 5 seed right now.

Witch Doctor say.
One scenario(wild wild guess/scenario, nothing more) Hart makes Martin fire his assistants in favor of more X n O. Would Martin stay? is he that loyal?
Witch Doctor say since we talking crazy talk....

Tennessee has made a few boneheaded hires going back to the late 90s. Imagine if Tennessee would have hired Bill Self instead of Jerry Green? Tennessee might have NCAA Championships in men's basketball!

Outside BP, who would that coach be for a little over $1m per year, following a 21 win coach fired after only 3 yrs and an NCAA tourney bid?

Not being combative here, I'm seriously asking. There are some major obstacles to face here. With the $$$ situation, how can we throw the bank at anyone to overcome all these obstacles.

I personally see us being left w a choice of another mid major gamble or Bruce. The gamble is not anywhere near worth the upheaval IMO. Bruce may not even be interested, may be banned by admins, and may never produce lightening in a bottle again if he were to complete the long shot of a return. The odds of either choice are not good IMO.

Martin has underachieved this season, so far. But his team is exactly as alive in the tourney as UF, WSU, SU etc. Him and team pulling off 3 or 4 wins here, making the reg season a distant memory, getting an raise/extension and some recruiting mojo, is looking like about the only + option on the table to me.

Thoughts?

I believe Zo has already saved his job. He can lose to Iowa and he is coming back. I feel pretty certain.
