Unfortunately, UVA and VT recruit VA very well. I do agree we need to recruit it better though because there are guys that want to play big boy ball similar to NC and look towards the SEC.
Va is loaded with D1 kids but sadly many in areas like Hampton, Tidewater and Richmond endup in jail, dead or giving up sports.
VT gets most of the top guys. UVa under London has done a great job instate recently. PSU makes a living in Va. tOSU has been a major factor the last 5-7yrs. State Univ of NJ also does well there.

Kids there relate to him...He's black, from the Roads and loves Va. London has stated he will focus his recruiting on Va. Doesnt hurt that UVA is a top 10 degree. If he ever figures it out as a HC they will be a force in ACC. UVa admin is well aware of the talent instate this cycle. Reason they kept him around.

Umm, what constitutes many? And many compared to where?

not sure I understand your question(s)

Hampton and Norfork have highest number of African American related crimes in the state: murders, Aggravate Assault, drug arrest etc. The Al documentary talks about the numbers.

Norfolk. From Newport News on down to Virginia Beach is a cesspool of human waste. I spent about two years of my service in the Hampton Roads area. I couldn't wait to leave.

Maybe so. Usually though, coaches that come in hot in recruiting in their first or second year but aren't able to produce results on the field will suffer a drop off in recruiting in later years. Like Dooley, for example. It's why Jones needs to show some improvement on the field this year to maintain his recruiting success and why I've been baffled by London.

Anyway, weird story coming...it's been told to me by a friend of mine that attends UVA that VA has historically produced a ton of great but underrated talent because way back in the day, the state was a major center for, well, no easy way to say this, the slave trade. Slaves were purposefully interbred there in order to produce the most physically impressive children. 150 years on down the road, we're still seeing the results of that.

Don't know if that's true or not, but the girl that told me isn't racist at all so I just took it as an interesting part of football and Virginia history. UVA is certainly a great school.

Anyone who has researched the slave history of the US already knew it was a true story.

But for those who haven't....

Considering that I've lived in the area almost my entire life, I'm pretty familiar with the different aspects of Hampton Roads and I remember when AI and friends started a brawl in a bowling alley, I didn't need a documentary to tell me about that. Are there some areas of Hampton and Norfolk where I don't always love to be? Sure. Is that the norm for the area? No. In those two cities alone you'll find a lot more areas that are perfectly safe than the opposite.

And I find someone with DC in their name calling the Hampton Roads area of the state a cesspool of human waste highly ironic. Bring anyone from SE or NE DC down to Virginia Beach and tell them how scary and bad it is, I'm sure they'd be real terrified.

Also, the worst confrontations I had in my 20's were with idiotic 18 - 25 year old kids who were in the area because of being in the military.

My comments had nothing to do with how "scary and bad" Hampton Roads can be, but more along the lines of a failing economy that primarily depends on military/government for its survival. Furthermore, Norfolk wouldn't even exist without Naval Station Norfolk. It's also funny that the majority of my confrontations were with the brain-locked civilians that occupied the Hampton Roads area. It was on very rare occasion when I met someone that I could actually have a conversation with. High school and Tidewater Community College dropouts crawl all over the strip and are a nuisance to deal with. It's pretty amazing how awful the Commonwealth gets once you reach Newport News area.
